Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2005
My husband and I applied for UNL Family Housing before we were married and lived in a large 2 bedroom unit for two years. Our unit was on the second floor (of three) and in the middle of the building. The apartment itself was very nice and spacious. We had new carpeting and nice appliances. The apartment was over 1000 square feet and had a balcony so we could put our grill and bikes outside. Our apartment faced Vine Street, so at first it was noisy, but we got used to it and were able to sleep with our windows open many nights. There were three washers and four dryers on the first level for the residents-it sometimes got busy on the weekends, but we usually just did our wash during the week and never had problems. Most of our neighbors had children, but we never had noise issues with any of our neighbors. They were all very pleasant and most kept to themselves.
The neighborhood isn't the best; however, both Lincoln City Police and the University Police patrol frequently. We always felt safe, even at night. The parking lot is well-lit and every apartment has a reserved space, so you are always guaranteed at least one spot close to the building. There are about fifteen-twenty overflow spots (first come, first serve) for families with a second car. We rarely had to park on the street, maybe three times the entire time we lived there. The apartments are only a short walk from city campus and there is also both campus and city bus stops just across the street. There are many things included-cable and internet being the two we appreciated the most! The only bills we were responsible for were electricity and phone. Electricity was no more than $80 during the summer and usually around $30 during the winter. They have a special deal through the university for family housing and our land line cost us $20/month (taxes included) and that included caller id.
The management is AWESOME. Kathy, the director of Family Housing, is very nice to work with. She was absolutely WONDERFUL. I can not say enough nice things about her and the staff. We were able to view two different apartments before we moved into the second one. Maintenance problems were always dealt with quickly. I can't think of a time where they didn't come that day-one time, the maintenance guy was there in ten minutes! They maintain the buildings and grounds well-the crew is always out right away after a snow storm and someone is always vacumming the hallways.
I can't say enough about these apartments. We would HIGHLY recommend them to anyone considering family housing-you will not be disappointed. We were sad to move and we definitely miss living there! gkZ41df9CgXQPfm8K2A7
