When I am seeking/evaluating a place to live, my major concerns are; the accommodations, crime, quiet and cost, not necessarily in that order. I have lived at Cambridge for almost eight years and I am satisfied on all counts.
The apartment interiors here are what is referred to as vanilla box ; beige carpeting and white walls, suitable for furnishings of any style or color. The appliances work well and are much better than the last place where I lived. I have only had 2 or 3 maintenance issues in the time I have lived here and they were addressed promptly. I have never had any problems with bugs, vermin, bad smells or anything else noxious. The staff here is friendly and courteous. My neighbors over the years have been friendly, courteous and never a problem. I am very comfortable living here.
The crime here, I think, is less than other large apartment complexes. We do see our share of middle-of-the-night car stereo thefts, but I have a garage (recommended), and that hasn't affected me. Burglaries and break-ins are very uncommon and assaults/shootings are unheard of.
I am really happy with how quiet a place this is to live in. I've never had an issue with loud stereos or parties or having to listen to my neighbors having sex. In all fairness, I do live on the top floor at the end of the building (best for quiet), and don't share an interior wall with a neighbor. My neighbor across the hall can be rockin' out with the stereo blasting and I won't know it unless I open my door and step into the hall.
Cambridge is reasonably priced and worth every dollar. You can find lower-cost apartments (who generally rent to anyone), but then you'll have to be willing to put up with a lot more noise, reduced maintenance and more problems. Cambridge suits my needs.
