Satisfactory, but I'm not renewing my lease

In general, this efficiency apartment complex has been okay. The neighborhood has felt safe, and though in a residential area, is also within walking distance of businesses and a mall. Extremely pet friendly. I have been satisfied with maintenance response, and the staff is very kind. I had asked about how quiet residents are, and was disappointed that so many college students live here. Some loud parties were held that disturbed my neighbors and myself. Many young residents come home between midnight and 4 am, and because the walkways are either enclosed or are wooden boardwalks (second story), all walking thunders around the complex.
A complex should not be responsible for the behavior of residents, and I understand the some buildings are much quieter than others.
The parking lot and drive is the least maintained part of Eden West. There are terrible potholes year-round. I have always found parking. Still I invested in a garage. I like having a garage, but there is not an opener, so it's a bit of a hassle to get in and out of.
Any security issues must be taken to police as the apartment does not handle nor take any responsibility for security. I have always felt safe in my unit, but my car was broken into. (I have never heard of a single apartment complex in the Omaha metro that has never had a car broken into.)Still, when I alerted the apartment company, they didn't seem to care. That disappointed me.
The apartments do not retain heat or cool very well, but they are also fast to warm up or cool down once I turn the heat or a/c on. I recommend window covering more than the blinds to help with this.
The water heater is sensitive, so the shower will go cold if my neighbor turns on the shower or dishwasher or washing machine. Also, it often takes a very long time for the faucet tap water to get warm.
All in all, I still liked the complex, and it was affordable. I will not be renewing my lease beacause I need a step up in quality, and I am looking to live in a different part of town.
