After having lived in another apartment building downtown for five years, I got used to unmet expectations. I wasn't sure things would be much better at Farnam 1600, but I was wrong: I've had experience with most downtown apartment buildings, and Farnam 1600 is head-and-shoulders above all of them.

The apartments, and the building itself, are immaculate. Management and cleaning crews keep the place spotless all the time. The lobby was recently rennovated. The building, double locked from the outside, is extremely safe. The tennants are all very friendly: mostly urban professionals, some retired folks, a few older students. The on-site manager, who lives on the premises, responds to maintenence requests extremely quickly -- usually on the same day.

The apartments themselves have great views and high ceilings. They're painted nicely. And the central heat/air is included in the price of the rent -- that means no high utility bills. Many of the apartments have unique features, such as glass brick walls and decorative columns. The walls are very thick, so hearing your next-door neighbor is never a problem. Management also keeps good track of the tenants, so there are no loud, "undesirable" people in the building.

The building also has a well-eqipped exercise room, large laundry facilities and a large storage area in the basement.

You're in the heart of everything when living in this building. Of course, you have an attached parking garage to easily access your car when wanting to get out of downtown. But it's also very close to everything in downtown: a few-minute walk to the Old Market. Less than a block to the Orpheum. You're close to coffee shops and restaurants and also within walking distance of the Qwest Center. There are several restaurants and several service-oriented businesses, such as a dry cleaners and jewelry store, all within a block of the building.

All-in-all, just a great place.
