Not so "Grand" Ridge

Moving out of these apartments has seriously made my life 100% better. I can now get sleep at night without the worry of someone breaking into my possessions and without having to listen to people party, fight and slam doors all night. I lived there before the transition from Laurelwood to Grandridge, and though things weren't so "peachy" with Laurelwood, the complex was ten times better back then. Yes, Grandridge slapped up some paint and new garage doors, but believe me, upon close inspection you can see that this complex is still badly falling apart. However, the biggest change is in the complex's clientele. It is horrendous. While I had just a handful of neighbor issues while it was Laurelwood, when Grandridge residents came in is when major problems started from the smell of weed in the hallways to domestic violence with every new neighbor who came into the building. It actually became a running joke with me and my past neighbors, for we would play "how long will it take before we have to call the police on the new person." Some of my old neighbors shouldn't live in a cardboard box, let alone an apartment they are that terrible. What impacts the problem even worse is that the walls are paper thin. I could actually easily hear my neighbor below me snore at night. Imagine when I had to put up with people screaming obscenities at each other outside my door every night ... yeah, believe me, I found no peace at home.
Finally, what compounds the problem is that management does nothing about this. NUMEROUS complaints funneled into their office from not only me, but other long term neighbors. In the end, nothing was done and in fact, troubled neighbors were given new leases. We were told several times "letters" would be sent to someone in our building who played their gangster rap so loud the walls would shake, but it just continued on. The last thing I would like to comment on is that the parking is very limited, and what makes it worse is that plenty of people who don't even live there shack up with other tenants, taking up parking spots of people who actually pay to live there. Again, the office knows well about this problem but takes a "hands free" approach about it. No wonder all the good people are fleeing this complex like the Titanic.
I recently noticed that they raised rent up here to an almost laughable amount. One has to wonder if they are doing this to make an effort to bring in better people who actually work, but even still, people with any common sense will take one look at the people living there, smell the horrible smell of the buildings and quickly walk out. If the owners of this complex, Thompson Michie, sincerely want to make this place a better community, they need to seriously look at the number one issue people care about when picking a place to live, and that's having good, respectful neighbors.
