I've lived here since it was Laurelwood. We used to have an indoor pool and hot tub, then we had nothing for 2 years, now we have an outdoor pool and hot tub open only in summer. We were PROMISED a year round hot tub but Grandridge has always been long on promises and short on delivery. The prior apt mgr was a lying, cheating, duplicitous snake in the grass but she is gone and I don't have a read on the new mgr yet. The maintenance staff is outstanding and friendly. At the rate rents are going up, this will no longer be a good value for the money within a year or so. Be careful if you wish to live here to get EVERYTHING in writing before you sign anything.

I have also lived hear since it was Laurelwood and I love the new clubhouse and pool that Grandridge has built for us to use. The fitness room has a ton of equipment unlike a lot of other apartment places where there are just a few items to use. There have been many positive changes to the place since the new management company has taken over. There has been a rent increase but I think there has been a lot to show for the rent increase. New windows in the apartments has really helped with my utility bills. Also paying cable to Grandridge instead of cox has saved me money every month. The new laundry room, fitness area, and FREE tanning facility has been awesome. I can't wait until summer to enjoy the pool. As far as the manager change. I agree the old manager was difficult to deal with but I've met the new manager and she is very friendly and easy to talk to. I think the apartments offer a good value for the money. I looked into moving a year ago and every other apartment complex that is similar to this one is about the same price. It didn't make sense to move at the time. I think if you have concerns about your rent then you should share them with the manager maybe it isn't as bad as you think.

I lived there 4-5 years ago, and ended up leaving when I spent the entire summer without an air conditioner. The temperature in the unit was steady at about 90-95 degrees during the day, and about 80 at night, the problem was that I worked nights, so I had to sleep during the day in a FURNACE. I had the maint. staff out there 5-6 times, each time they checked the temperature of the air and said it was working fine, but the 350 dollar utility bill caused by running the AC full tilt 24x7 said otherwise. I scheduled a meeting with the manager and the maint. lead, and I was pretty much told that I was stupid and didn't understand how air conditioning worked. They insisted that the AC can only cool 20 degrees, and that meant if it was 100 degrees outside, it would be 80 degrees inside at best. I pointed to their themostat on the wall and asked them how it was 75 degrees in the office if it was 105 outside, and they told me that was only possible because they use "industrial" units for the office building. I told them that there was no air moving, and that they only had to hold their hand in front of the vents to see that the cold air wasn't being circulated because there was no air coming out. I had been looking to move to a townhome, but I went to Fox Valley instead, it was just across the road and a much nicer place. Amazingly enough, even when it was over 100 degrees outside, somehow the air conditioning units there were able to defy physics and cool the apartment to a comfortable temperature. Maybe the new laurelwood manager is better, but honestly, unless they changed out their entire staff, I don't think they could fix the gross incompetence that I found there.

I have lived at Grandridge for the past three years and have found both management and maintenance dependable, accessible, pleasant, and accommodating. I have a disability and when I first moved in I was given an apartment on the first floor and the one closest to the laundry room and garage. I've been told if ever I needed anything due to illness or any concerns to just ask which I have done and both management and maintenance have come through. The door to my apartment had to be kicked down for entrance by the rescue squad and no mention of money even to this day, has ever been brought to my attention. Some positive things to know are the following: 1. Reduction on Cox cable bill 2. Quick speed Internet service 3. Exercise room with most up-to-day equipment 4. New laundry room for multi use 5. Outdoor swimming pool 6. Tanning room 7. Holiday and other apartment gatherings allowing tenants to become better acquainted with both neighbors and management 8. Prize winning contest and drawing 9. Speedy and good maintenance department 10. Friendly and warm management There are other positive things I could say but these are some that immediately came to mind. I feel comfortable enough to think of them all more like friends and want to tell them thanks. We always hear the negative but never the positive and there are always two sides to every story. I am quite comfortable at Grandridge and believe others can be too.

Come on delores5523, or should I say, Grandridge staff. Guys, we can see you coming from a mile away. We can read the brochure to find out the amenities. Seriously, you don't have to list them. Save you're sales pitch for the gang bangers that live at Grandridge.
