Unfare rules-Do it for one we have to do it for all excuse

Years at this apartment: 2004 - 2005
After living at Hillsborough Pointe for almost 2 years I purchased a house and asked to get out of my lease early by only 2 months and they wanted to charge me nearly $2700 in fees when someone who would want to back out of a full lease after only living there for 2 months would pay much less in fees. Their excuse was if we do it for you we would have to do it for everyone else. I have a friend that used to live there and got out of her lease with no penalty because she moved out of state however they told me even if someone was moving out of state they would still charge them fees. I was willing to pay some sort of fee but not $2700 when the rest of my lease payments are only $3000. There were several car break ins during my time living at Hillsborough Pointe. This company basically doesn't understand the concept of case by case issues and making decisions based on the situation being presented in front of you. It wasnt like I was leaving them to go to another apartment and I most certainly could have provided proof of buying the home if they so asked for it. The bottom line is after nearly 2 years all I was asking for was 2 months early termination and their poor response of we do it for you we have to do it for everyone else will make me sure not to recommend their apartments to anyone.
