I realize that the majority of these reviews have been from people that have had a bad experience with Hillsborough Pointe apts so I will try to give a fair assessment. I will start with the front office management. The lady that shows apartments (I cannot give her name for legal reasons) acts very friendly and nice when you come to tour an apt. but after you sign she becomes a very big pain to deal with. She often "forgets" to put in a maintenance request which will require multiple trips to fix simple things. I would deal strictly with the head office if you want anything done. Which brings me to my next point, the actual building situation. The apt was in a poor condition when I moved in. It was not cleaned and was still badly damaged. It was dirty, doors did not fit right, and I had a big green spot in my closet that I was told to "just deal with." The halls are very, very, very noisy, dirty, and smell bad. You will be able to easily hear your neighbors and vice versa. Forget about getting an apt. with an office. The circulation is horrible; you literally cannot be in that room from 4:00PM to 8:00PM because it is too hot. Perhaps it will be too cold in the winter as well. This leaves me to believe that since the circulation is bad and you can hear your neighbors the apt. is poorly insulated. Your large utilities bills will be a surprise for you as they were for me. I believe Hillsborough cut corners when building this place. I have had paint fall off the walls because there was very little drywall mud on the sheetrock. Another contributor to poor insulation. The carpets are very cheap. I take my shoes off yet I keep getting orange spots on the carpet which suggests mildew damage. The carpet is not fitted properly and will either not fit to the wall or will lump up in the middle of the room. The windows are outdated which can be seen by the moisture between the glass letting you know that the argon has escaped, also the windows leak. The washer and dryer DO NOT WORK PROPERLY. My white shirts had rust stains on them and forget about the dryer drying your clothes. This place only sprays for bugs on a customer request basis which I think breaks some sort of law. Yet the bugs did not leave after they said they sprayed for them and I LIVE ON THE THIRD FLOOR. Speaking of breaking laws when I moved in the fire alarm in my bedroom did not work. I do not have any kids but I would not recommend anything like this to people that do. There is no pool and the workout facility is not updated.
Positives: It is spacious but overpriced (the apts down the street are a lot better value). The grounds are kept clean. The closet is huge. Bedroom is decent size. The cabinets in the kitchen are good but not the best. They claim to have security. Majority of neighbors are polite but I did see someone from my balcony that lived here hit another car and run. Police needed to be involved because management would not bother. If you have to live here please please please get a garage.
My friend moved into an apt. exactly like mine at the same time I did and experienced the all same problems I did, some not even mentioned. All in all I would definitely not recommend this place if cleanliness, quiet, or quality is a concern to you. Out of 100 I give it a 23. This is a fair assessment.
