look elsewhere

I have lived at Kellom Knolls for the past 2 years. Overall, the main reason I chose to live here is for the convenient access to Creighton University, which is directly across the street. This is the ONLY positive attribute Kellom Knolls has to offer!

There are a number of students who live in this complex which makes things a little better. However, the non-student population is not exactly friendly, and don't "play nice". Safety is an issue at Kellom Knolls, not only because of the neighborhood it's located in, but also because of some of it's tennants. The people who lurk around this area are very shady! In addition, you'll find that the people who live here lack courtesy. Don't expect to find peace of mind unless you can tolerate listening to stereos until odd hours of the morning or enjoy the sound of car horns (tennants' friends pulling into the parking lot too lazy to knock on door) throughout the evening.

The laundry facilities are a joke. There is one washer and 2 dryers for each cluster of 6 units. I don't use these facilities because they are too filthy. My dirty clothes are cleaner than the washer and dryers. The laundry room often smells like urine.

Despite having air conditioning, at least that's what the management calls it, my apt is never cool during the summer. I have complained numerous times only to be told that the AC works fine. You decide: my apt never drops below 85 degrees and my bills are incredibly expensive.

The grounds are not kept very well. During the winter, the ice is terrible. Salt is sprinkled maybe once a week and you're lucky if the parking lot or sidewalks are ever plowed. Cars are always getting stuck in the snow/ice in the parking lot.

If you're a student and on a budget, Kellom Knolls is convenient. However, if quality of life and safety are important to you then I highly suggest that you look elsewhere. As for me, I'm looking for a new apt. Good luck!

I agree. I lived in kellom for 6 months and couldnt wait to leave when my lease was up. It was convenient because I worked downtown, but thats all. Dont get me wrong the apartments are nice enough but I would constantly get calls from management telling me not to use the water because it would leak into the apartment below. When I moved in there were huge stains on the carpet in every room, my bottom lock didnt work and was never fixed and there was never anywhere to park because there are broke down cars in the lot and they always threaten to tow but never do. And lets not talk about the noise. im not one to complain about a little music but it was rediculous at all hours of the night. And dont try to sleep in on your off day! I swear there were at least 10 people living in the apartment above me and they didnt have the curtosy to control their kids. And to finish it off I had to pay a 595.00 deposit when I moved in and when I decided I wanted to move when my lease was up in March, I was told that I didnt give enough notice so I would have to pay the whole month of April. Theyll be waiting for their money! All Im saying is when you pay 605.00 a month, you shouldnt have to deal with crap from people who pay little or nothing because theyre on Section 8. And by the way,I am a Black woman.
