Overall, I'd do it again

It was hard moving from my huge, beautiful house to an apartment, but it had to be done and I think I made the right choice.

It is pricy for what it is, but underground parking and an elevator, being pet friendly, and the wonderful location were the deciding factors for me.

The complex is great, the office and maintenance staff are friendly and cooperative. The buildings are attractive and upscale, and I seldom hear a sound from the adjoining apartments - sometimes just the garbage disposal of the one whose kitchen backs to mine - and then I have to be at my sink.

My only complaints are no walkin shower in the master bath and the quality of the interior amenities. Their brochures say "gourmet" kitchens! I didn't think they even made coil top stoves anymore, the cabinets are as cheap as they are scarce (my blender and half my utensils are in a storage unit), the refrigerator has taught me to curse better than my ex-husband! With the wire shelves, something tips over everytime I open the door. And it is tiny. There is plenty of space for a nice side-by-side but they must have gotten a deal on these. The kitchen is very dark also. We replaced the fluorescent bulb with the brightest one we could find and installed a light above the sink (the cord is taped and runs down the wall) and still I can't get enough light. Luckily, their are over 50 restaurants in the 1 mile strip from 168th to 180th street so plan on a lot of takeout if you don't want the kitchen to drive you nuts! Maintenance has been up numerous times to replace the veins on the vertical blinds which are as cheap as you can get. And a digital thermostat would be nice. Storage is available but extra. Since my house payment was about the same as this apartment costs, and there is no tax break, they really should upgrade the interiors.
