They tried to evict me from Camelot!

I had a lot of problems with Camelot apartments and Seldin Co. especially in the last few months I lived there. I rented a studio apartment when I first moved in there and was unable to use the shower for the first 3 months because it would cause a lake in the hallway outside the bathroom when I did. They sent in roto-rooter, who cut two holes in the wall and destroyed the drain and it took the maintenence people another 2 1/2 months to figure out that that was the problem. after they patched the two one foot square holes cut out by roto-rooter, they cut another hole 2 foot by 3 foot to fix the drain. Then, call me stupid, I decided to move into a one bedroom apartment in the same complex. After more water problems, the bug problem started. There were ants all over my apartment, especially the kitchen. I came home one day to find an ant hill in the kitchen, yes literally, an ant hill. I complained and they told me they'd send someone to spray, but three days later there was a centipede crawling along my kitchen counter. Doesn't that sound like a lovely place to be cooking dinner' So I complained again, and again they told me they'd spray and I found 3 inch long cocroach in my closet two days later. After yet another complaint, they finally sprayed. I wasn't the only one with bug problems. A friend of mine found a VERY poisonous spider in her pantry, and they refused to spray until she could prove that she had seen that spider. I had water comeing into my bathroom from the roof through my cieling, which they claimed to fix once and the next time it rained, I had the same problem. I complained about the growing mold spot more than 6 times and when I moved out, it was still there. I had the pilot light on my furnace go out, so they sent a maintenence man over, and two hours later (when I wasn't there) they sent another one. The second one injured my cat after he hissed at him, and when my cat retaliated by biting, he left my apartment, leaving the door unlocked and no note of his being there at all. The only reason I knew that had happened is because the office called me the next day saying that they needed vet records for my cat to make sure he had had his rabies shot. When I took my cat to the vet with me, they found that he had internal bruising, like he had been kicked, hit or thrown. Then they sent me an eviction notice that I had not paid my rent for the previous two months because they "sent my check to the wrong bank." How many banks are they using' And they also told me it was a substancial problem. Apparently there were a LOT of eviction notices that went out that month, and they didn't think to double check it until people started complaining. Then they made me pay the late fee, and my rent hadn't been late. Then, after they had already sent out a letter saying that residents had to pay for gas (I was already paying $535/month rent, with gas it was $560, at least), they sent out another letter informing me that they were raising my rent to $550/month (in case you don't want to do the math, it would have been $575/month with gas). I took that as my chance to get the hell out, and I like my new apartment and management a lot better. I would seriously rethink moving into Camelot apartments or any other property owned by Seldin Co.
