It's a gamble

Years at this apartment: 2007 - 2008
My family and I moved into these apartments in July of 2007 and it was quite a struggle to even get our stuff in. Our old lease was up at the end of June and we were promised by management to get in the first weekend of July...that didn't happen. Thankfully, our old complex was gracious enough to let us stay one more month at the same rate we had been paying so it wasn't that big of a deal...except that when we had to leave we ended up storing our stuff in a U-Haul truck in the parking lot for a day because Spring Hill "couldn't find" our garage door opener...so we loaded the truck on a Friday, unloaded it into our garage on Saturday, and were able to move in on Sunday night. Once we were in, we discovered that the dishwashers water line wasn't turned on, nor was the power, the dryer wasn't properly ventilated, we didn't have mirrors in the bathrooms, the fireplace wasn't set up completely, and the shower made an absolutely horrendous noise when you turned it on. Those issues were addressed all within the first couple weeks of being in...unfortunately, they still haven't come to fix our window sill in the master bedroom, which was damaged by water because the window had been broken and not fixed in a timely fashion. The window itself needs adjusting (you have to slam and latch it really quick to get it closed). After putting my daughter to bed one night, I pulled the door knob off, and then the one for the main bathroom the next night. The building I'm living in is settling, so there's huge cracks in the front entry way where you can see the walls buckling, and we have broken tiles in the kitchen and huge cracks around the master bedroom door from the settling as well. In the kitchen the counter tops have moved with the building, so we've had to have them come back in a couple times to re-caulk everything. For some reason, even with all the doors open, the temperature in the master bedroom is about 5 degrees cooler than it is in the rest of the apartment. The controlled access is EXTREMELY controlled, as the only way to get in is with the key fob, which is fine, except that any visitors you have can't call up to be let in, which makes it difficult to get packages considering there's not a main office for them to drop packages off to since they can't contact you in anyway. Thankfully I stay home so I can watch the parking lot if I'm expecting something. The neighbors are all pretty cool, not unnecessarily loud at odd hours of the night or anything like that. The garages are real nice, but the door openers kind of stink...you basically have to be within 5 feet for it to work. On the whole, for the price and the location, I'm happy with the place. I just wish that they would fix the controlled access and were a little faster with maintenance requests. Oh, and I hate that we can only have DirecTV and Qwest phone/internet. P.S. I don't know if this was the deal they made, but whomever they have coming to remove trash has picked it up the last few weeks at about 1-2 in the morning, and my husband and I have been woken up every time it's happened. Hopefully management didn't pick that time.
