Not worth it

Years at this apartment: 2003 - 2004
We lived in Steeplechase for one year. We were excited to be moving there because our previous apartment was on 72nd and Blondo (not a great neighborhood). And the neighborhood IS great. We could walk our dog in the neighborhood behind the complex, run to the movies or Target or to dinner in a matter of seconds. That's all wonderful. BUT everything about the apartment is awful. All the door frames in our apartment are warped. The bedroom doors won't even close all the way. The drains and toilets here clog ALL the time. Literally... we use the plunger for the toilet daily, and we've used Drano at least a dozen times in the tubs and sinks. Maintenance - they're nice guys, and they come quickly, but their work is subpar. Bugs ARE a nightmare here. They're everywhere. When it rains, prepare for an onslaught of little roly-poly type bugs. In the year we have lived here, we've had five mice. Five. I haven't had any mouse/rat problems in ANY other housing I've lived in. Ever. The molding in the master bathroom bath is cracked even though it's been "fixed" 6 times. The master bedroom's closet - god, this has been the BIGGEST pain in the butt. The floor is soaked. Either from the bathroom or a foundation problem. They've "fixed" that a few times, too. But it hasn't helped at all. So the floor's wet, and the walls are wet and growing mold. It's disgusting. We have called maintenance on ALL of these problems, but they are no help. They should blow this place up and start over.
Other people mentioned parking and I agree. Most of the time, it's tough to get a parking space by your building. The security gates are ridiculous, too. We were told they'd be "fixed" the month after we moved in, but we were there a year, and they remained broken and open. Oh well. I think when people complain about the cost of rent, they're saying that for what you get, it's not worth it. We moved in thinking we were going to get a great, luxurious apartment and we were willing to pay for it. Instead we got a slum. All the girls in the office are nice except Linda. She's freaking evil to be honest. But the manager, Annette, is very nice and the rest of the staff is, as well. Unfortunately, they're running a sh*thole apartment complex.
