warning: stay away

Years at this apartment: 2002 - 2003
I have lived in both the Biltmore and the Vanderbilt apartments and the only decent thing about these overpriced pieces of crap is the fitness center at the Biltmore. I have lived at the Vanderbilt longer b/c the Biltmore is just an overpriced version of the same thing (actually, my place at the V-bilt is larger and $150 cheaper) However, as I have lived here, my car has been broken into, the police have allegedly came to my apartment for a noise complaint when I was not here, and I have been given notice that if it happens one more time I will be evicted, even though nothing has happened in my apartment. The place was in rotten condition when I moved in with mold on the bathroom tiles, giant holes in the bathroom door and wall, and the livingroom wall. All was taken care of one and a half months after I moved in. My kitchen is the same size as my closet, give or take 2 feet.
The thing that bothers me the most, however is the fact that I 100% do not feel safe here. It is very dark in the parking areas at night. There were also attaks made on women outside of the buildings at night. I heard about this through talking to other women that live in the complex. I am infuriated that the management not only did not care, but they made absolutely no effort to inform thier tenants to be aware of the dangers potentially lurking in the bushes. I understand that they do not have a legal duty to protect the safety of their tenants, but it would be nice to show at least an ounce of concern, and inform the tenants of the attacks so personal precautions can be taken in the future. (i.e. carry some mace and do not come home w/out a buddy)
Also, a friend of mine's roommate moved out of their 2 bedroom, and she stayed in the apt. Within the week, she came home to find her door unlocked when she distinctly remembered locking it (as did her friend that was with her when she locked it). Two days later, she came home from class to find her door ajar, and SOMEONE INSIDE!!!! She ran to her car to call the police and get the hell out of there b/c it could have been a serial killer or rapist waiting for her for all she knew. The police could do nothing b/c she did not stay there and investigate the scene (the fact that the police told her that it was tough luck b/c she didn't go in and check it out herself is stupid as well, but another topic all together) She did not stay in her apartment for the rest of the week out of sheer fear. Nothing of serious value was taken from her apt., but her computer files had been gone through, which had her soc. sec. number in it b/c it was on a number of papers and take home tests. When she told the Vanderbilt people, they did not care at all. Did nothing, not even any sympahty expressed. This begs the question, who broke into her apt. considering there was no forced entry'' Not the Vanderbilt employees''' Couldn't be such a trustworthy group of folks. Right. Her ex-roommate just turned her key into the office, so there was definitley easy access for someone. I just hope that when my lease is up I do not fare the same way.
P.S. There was also a blizzard this winter that didn't really effect anyone else in town b/c of the invention of snow plows, however, since Slosberg does not pay when they say they will, no one would do the easy money job (well it should be easy money, but not with these -------s) of plowing the parking lots. My car got stuck as did tons of my neighbors every day until the 4th day with the sun took care of the situation. Do yourself a favor and don't move here. Oh yeah, they don't want to water the grass by the apartments that are not directly visible from the street this summer. The dead grass all over makes me so sad.
