5 years later, I still feel the same way. Don't rent at the Vandie or at any other Richdale properties. Read below for my Vandie experience if you are interested.


Here is why I would not recommend this apartment to anyone:
1. The security guard patroling the parking lot - its a high school kid in a "scary looking" Isuzu Amigo...trust me, its not a deterant. When lived there, I and 5 of my neighbors all had our cars broken into.
2. The "secured entry" - I ll bet that over half of the time I lived there the secured entry door was broken.
3. In the spirit of number one and number two, the lights in the hallways and outside by the bushes are burnt out half of the times.
4. When it snows, they plow all snow from the parking lot up against the back of your car...and even if it just snows an couple of inches, you ll still have an hour or so of shoveling to get out...then you probably won t get your spot back and you ll have to go through the whole thing again.
5. They don t do walk throughs when you move out, so even though the rent is relatively cheap, you ll end up losing your deposit, trust me on this one...I didn t do jack to my apartment (I travel for work and was only home on the weekends and never had any parties or anything) and they took it all plus charged me a little on top.
6. Thin walls...better pray you have quite neighbors.
7. Parking...good luck unless you don t mind parking half a block way. It looks empty during the day, but during the evening and the weekends, good luck.
8. The ladies in the office....good luck getting them to act on anything.
9. When I moved in, I had to go to the office and tell them that my "new apartment" had not been painted, had dirty carpet and PUBES all over the bathrooms. I had to wait outside for 3 hours while they cleaned it...and just having arrived from Arizona, I wasn t too happy.
10. Oh, to go with number 9, the stuff that they couldn t clean when I moved in, they charged me for when I move out (ie, stains on the counters and stains in the carpet). I did write it down on my move in sheet too, so don t think that will save you.

Well, it seemed like a great place to live when I was looking...I should have just paid a little more and moved to Steeplechase or Benz Place...anywhere but a Richdale Property.

Who would I recommend this place to' No one, not even someone I disliked. Please, do youself a favor and keep looking. It may seem nice, but trust me, there are much better places out there.
