Pros and Cons

Pros: Spacious apartment at a VERY affordable price, conveniently located near Target, Post Office, a Great Mexican Restaurant, and other helpful places. Also, our balcony looks over a creek directly behind our apartment which is very lovely. We have bird feeders out and the grounds are tended daily by an elderly lady who plants beautiful flower gardens everywhere. There is a park behind the creek, as well as a golf course, tennis courts, volleyball pit, and a walking path with a few ponds. It's quiet and very appealing to a nature lover such as myself. There aren't any washer/dryer hookups, but each building has a set of machines available to residents for HALF the price that other places charge. No pets are allowed which helps for allergy sufferers and also, it's nice not to step in pet refuse every time you walk across the property! No water bill is charged, the resident only pays for electricity and gas which (so far) have both been minimal. We have a wood burning fireplace which I love and a huge closet off of the master bedroom. Parking is usually great.
Cons: When we first moved in, the complex had a silverfish problem. It's more under control now, but never pleasant to find those things crawling up your walls. The shower heads spit out 2.5 gallons of water per minute and the apartment only has a 30 gallon tank. It makes for short showers. The showers themselves are small. Really small. And the bathrooms are somewhat awkwardly designed- there's not enough space, the doors take up too much room. The office staff is small, one lady works the office, one man does all the maintenance. We have had trouble getting things fixed or taken care of. The maintenance man will often leave a project half done and forget to come back for a while, or if we have a complaint, they tell us that they'll fix it (sometimes giving us very detailed solutions) but do not follow through. It's annoying. We have had some very loud neighbors, but I don't think that that is typical of the complex. Overall it is very quiet. There are strict rules and I'm guessing that if residents don't abide by them they get the boot.
