Good for some, probably not for others. Do your homework.

Hampshire Green Apartments, while nice in many ways, did not work for us. It is an attractive property with pretty buildings, well-kept landscaping and the apartment units themselves having some nice touches, but as far as living conditions themselves were concerned, we found it challenging. It's easy to be taken in by what you see on the tour and how you're treated as a prospective tenant, so I advise doing your homework and making sure it's going to be the right place for you.

The ladies at the office will give you many reasons for living here, starting with them. They were the only apartment complex staff who gave us the time of day and did not make us feel like our presence on a Saturday morning was the lowlight of their day. Keep in mind they are there to sell you on living at Hampshire Green and good at what they do. They are equally good at deflecting questions they don't want to answer.

If you are sensitive to noise, beware. Protection from both indoor and outdoor noise is poor. Incoming planes landing at Manchester Airport fly directly overhead at an extremely low altitude, touching the runway 15-20 seconds after passing over. It caused a significant amount of lost sleep in our household. UPS lands an enormous jet every morning at about 3:40am. I recommend staying around long enough to hear a couple planes pass over so you can judge it for yourself. If you ask the staff they will tell you no one has ever complained about it. Indoors we had toddlers both across and above us who could be heard screaming and stomping on a daily basis. There are also plenty of older kids, especially elementary-aged, and a small handful of teens. Most are polite and respectful but tend to be oblivious to their surroundings and loiter just about anywhere they can, leaving their bicycles and belongings wherever they go. Bedford being a more upscale community, parents tend not to worry about letting their kids play unsupervised.

There is major construction currently taking place on Route 3 to build a new spur highway from the Everett Turnpike to Manchester Airport. This will continue for years. Route 3 is being expanded and it appears there will be entrances and exits within hundreds of yards of Hampshire Green.

The indoor pool is nice but can be a little difficult to use (or rather, enjoy) on weekends because of the number of visitors who come to take advantage of the facilities. Many pack coolers and set up for the entire day. I believe many are not welcomed guests but actually just strangers who heard about the nice indoor poor and the ease of gaining access to it. On the topic of the pool, the Clubhouse and pool are available for private resident functions, which is a nice feature if you host the occasional party but it also means the facilities are unavailable for all the other residents during those times.

If you are sensitive to tobacco, you will probably find you have to keep your windows closed. There is a surprisingly high smoker population and second-hand smoke travels from one apartment to the next very easily. Decks are close enough together that an inconsiderate neighbor's ashes and/or butts can easily find their way to yours. Smoke very easily permeates into the hallways and into surrounding apartments. We ran multiple air purifiers.

Maintenance is generally decwent about fixing problems, though sometimes you wait a while. They may put up an argument if asked to schedule repairs while someone is home.

Those are my two cents. I hope they help you make a decision that's right for you. Qlkxv6lfLuuXn3BrtpO7
