Apartments are ok. I have seen nicer (especially for the $1400 plus you are going to shell out!). Grounds are littered with dog waste and burnt lawns from the dog waste. Residents will let their dogs run free off the leashes (against the law in Bedford). The gates rarely work properly. The keypads on the buildings do not unlock the doors as they should...if you forget your keys, you are likely to be locked out. You will be charged $30 a month for a carport which many times, is occupied by someone else who does not belong there. Carports are supposed to be ONLY for cars, but residents store recreational items such as canoes and kayaks and bicycles. Residents will speed through the parking lot (look out for little kids and pets). There are speedbumps that will be installed in the summertime, but only if you bother the office to take care of it. Last year it took several weeks for them to get around to doing it after several requests from several residents. In their monthly newsletter, they keep praising themselves and apartment living. "You have your snow removed, maintenance repairs, lawns mowed, etc..." They fail to remind you that you dont have a tax writeoff like you do if you own your own home and the peace and quiet you will have in your own home. If you need to resolve a problem, the management office always tells you that theyre there to help you, but they wont do anything to fix the problem! Your complaints fall on deaf ears. Many residents keep garbage on their balconies and its disgusting. Many residents use their gas grills on their balconies and theyre not supposed to. Im waiting for the day this place burns down because of that! There is a lot of noise--be prepared, because you WILL hear your neighbors, you WILL hear loud radios, motorcycles, and loud cars and management wont do anything to quiet them down. Im glad to be out of here...couldnt wait to move out! Be prepared to fight for your security deposit, too, even if youve kept your apartment SPOTLESS. Do yourself a favor and if you must rent, rent a house. Youve been warned! Do not rent at Heritage on the Merrimack in Bedford, NH!!!
