Everything I was looking for, great management

I have lived in Alton Woods during the summer of 2002 in a furnished one bedroom apartment, and from 2003-2005 in an unfurnished on bed room apartment.

During my time here I have been very pleased with my experience. It is mostly quiet, and if a neighbor is ever too loud, the staff is willing to help resolve the problem without creating a fuss. I did have problems when a new person moved in below me. She would play her tv very loud, and her boyfriend talked very loud, and I could hear them. However, management helped me deal with the problem and they were very sincere in their desire to help, and since she moved out I have not had a problem with noise with my new neighbor. I believe it is a reflection on bad luck with a neighbor and not Alton Woods. Occasionally, you can here a car go by but I don't even notice it. I am very sensitive to noise, and overall, it is mostly a quiet place to live.

There are tennis courts, that are well-kept. There is a pool, that is well-maintained, it could be more attractive, but it is a nice place to go read a book, or go for a quick dip. It is very clean.

The management is very flexible, and I have felt very comfortable interacting with them. I have locked myself out on a couple occasions, both times my fault, and no one has made a big hassle out of it.

The few times I have needed maintenence it has been done on time and correctly.

The parking is more than adequate, and there are covered spaces for a nominal fee each month.

There are laundry facilities in each building. However, the complex is located right across the street from a very good laundromat so I have just gone there.

A dry cleaner is right across the street, as is a supermarket, and though the road is crowded, the speed limit is 30 mph and though I have sometimes had a wait a minute to turn I have never had a problem getting out of the complex or negotiating the road. There is also a gas station right next store, and a place to rent movies and a car wash less than a minute down the street. It is a very convenient location.

My apartment was clean, and it is easy to maintain. For one person it is spacious, and I have seen two people comfortably live in a one bedroom, though I would recommend a two-bedroom for more than one person. I am a bit of a clutterer, but I think someone who is better at organizing would have no problem storing things in the apartment. There is also a storage space for each apartment in the attic, that is very clean and secure.

I have always felt safe there, though there is no gate. However, no complex in concord has a gate, and I believe this is because there isn't a high crime rate. My door always securely locks, as does the main door to the building. Mail is conveintly located at the entrance.

There are plenty of trees and grass, and I often see people taking a nice long walk around the community.

Though I do run the heat and a/c my electricity has never been very high. I think this is because the apartment are well-insulated. I live on the top floor, so I am not sure how it would be to live with someone above you. If you are sensitive to a person walking around above you, you might want to consider getting an apartment on the top-floor, however, I lived on the middle floor during the summer of 2002 and never had a problem.

The two management during my time here are Melanie and Roberta. They are very accessible and you will often see them going for a stroll during lunch time. One time I was playing tennis, and the lights didn't turn on until 7pm, because fall was starting, and the sun wasn't up as long. I went into to ask Melanie if she could turn on the lights a little earlier, and the next day they were on at 6pm. So that is just one example of their quality of service.

As for community life. I am younger, and there are new families and older citizens here. If you are looking for a hot and happening community, well, I don't think you will find it anywhere in Concord. If you are looking for a relaxing place to live, and for friendly neighbors, then this is a good place to call home.

There is a gym, but it is not the high point of the community. Honestly, if you are looking for a workout facility you would be better off joining on of the Concord gyms. They are inexpensive, close by and a good alternative. This is not a complaint for me, as I would rather save a little money on rent than have a top quality gym at my apartment complex.

As for rental increases, my rent started at 787 a month. The next year it was 801 a month. So that is a 14 dollar increase. I cannot speak for other tenants, only my own experience. At the end of my year term I gave notice that I wanted to extend my lease for 3 extra months. They charged me only 25 extra dollars a month, which I feel is very reasonable, considering that I cannot signging up for a full year, as I am relocating.

I am moving at the end of the summer to relocate for my job, and I wish I could move the complex down to my new location. I really don't have anything bad to say about Alton Woods. It is a great place to live. I don't think you can find better in Concord.

It is a 20 dollar late charge for late rent, however, they offer direct deposit so you never have to worry about paying your rent late.

I am a bondafide renter and in no way associated with Alton Woods or Alton Woods management.
