Overpriced and overrated

There are some good things about The Fairways. The grounds are nice, as is the Clubhouse. The apartments are pretty spacious, but kind of 80's style. But there is no storage, whatsoever, unless you're willing to pay $40 extra a month for a small closet in the basement, where the ceiling is falling down and there is water damage. Make sure to check your belongings regularly, as it would not be hard for someone to break into the storage unit because of the faulty locks. The walls are paper thin. I was told when I first moved in that there were double walls -- yeah, okay. If there's double walls, then why can I hear my neighbors fighting, having sex, or just having a normal conversation' The hallways smell like rotten fish, and there seem to be a lot of Section 8 people around. There's also a bunch of obnoxious teenagers around that find it necessary to scream obscenities at the top of their lungs day and/or night. Also be advised that there is a park behind The Fairways where they will have a "battle of the bands" concert from 1 in the afternoon until 10 at night and it's so loud that you feel you're actually sitting in the front row! Then, when you call the police, you are told there is nothing that can be done because they have a permit. Mind you, this can happen on a Sunday night, when most people have to go to work the next day. Pray to God that your toilet doesn't get clogged anytime after 8:00p.m., because when you call maintenance, they'll ask if you can wait until the next morning. This is a normal occurance. I've had a problem with my toilet since I moved in and have had them come to "fix" it more times than I can remember! The people in the Office are snotty and rude and have no need to be when you're paying over $1000 a month for rent! Mine is almost $1100 now, something I find to be absolutely ridiculous for a garden style apartment. They used to offer you a free carpet cleaning or wall repainting when you renewed you lease, but last April, they offered me nothing - just the opportunity to pay them $35 more a month for rent! Overall, I feel generally safe here (just as long as I keep my door locked and deadbolted), but I feel like I am being overcharged for what The Fairways considers to be "luxury" living. Unfortunately, I believe it is the best Derry has.
