Not bad, but find something better
From: -Anonymous-Date posted: 7/26/2009
Years at this apartment: 2008 - 2009
Not a bad place to live. I have lived here for a year but will be moving out shortly. There are definitely some pros and cons to living here. After a year the cons are why I am moving out.
Pros:
Location is great as it is secluded from the road. Short walk to downtown Dover and Henry Law Park is right there. People that live here are reasonably quiet, though not very social. The units vary, but the one I was in was in great condition. Landlord was very good as well. Plenty of parking (but more on that in the cons). Heating costs are very low since it is such a small unit.
Cons:
Places are very small and there is no storage. You have one closet in the bedroom. There is a small galley kitchen. If you like to cook you will struggle with this kitchen. It is very cramped. Walls are very thin. If you live on the ground floor you WILL hear the shower go on above you every morning and you will hear them walking around. Use your imagination on the other things you will hear between the walls regardless of what floor you are on. Very little natural like comes into the apartments. The maintenance guy that lives here is not a friendly person, and if you have a maintenance request you are forced to deal with him.
**Parking is plentiful but the enforcement of the rules is very inconsistent. Don't let your guests park in regular parking - they usually never tow and issue only warnings, but a guest of mine had their car towed and was charged $225. They never received any warning and were only there a few hours. In the winter, the plowing is done very inconsistently too. Plows come at random points in the day. You literally have to be watching your window for them to come. You will not hear them come if you have your tv on in your apartment. Sometimes they do not come till late in the afternoon and you may not even be around by that point. Again, very inconsistent with how they operate. They are the Shawmut Prop. Management group and they are not a pleasure to work with.
Conclusion: Again, not a horrible place to live but after a year of living here I know I can find something better for the price. Too many nuances (noise, size, management group, etc) to be really comfortable here. Great location, but that is really the only thing it is going to have over other places. Would not recommend renting or owning one of these units if you want to like where you live.
