Although slightly snooty (according to the lease you can't use towels as curtains... it makes the place look shabby from outside), Granite Village is quiet and extremely spacious and well-kept for the rent you pay ($395/each for a two bedroom). Heat and hot water are included. They try to keep a decent ratio of families to college students. That isn't too hard, because the Dover Shaw's bus stop is a five-minute walk, which is a pain in the winter but manageable. Parking is a bit of a pain if you live in one of the two buildings next to the smaller main parking lot, but their overflow lot is close to the other two buildings, and at its furthest about a 200' walk to building 2.
The current manager, Jen, seems very professional and organized. As to people saying she has favorites, I haven't seen any evidence of that. What I have seen is that they take noise very seriously. I was surprised to get a noise complaint one day for minor things, but when I went to her to explain she said it was alright, the neighbors below had gotten used to pretty much no one living above them (the girl before us was never home) and they just wanted to let us know it was a little loud.
Considering all the options, GV is pretty nice. Not a place for parties at all, but for quiet grad students who aren't too attached to their window-towels, the compromises aren't too bad.
