Sawyer Mills is a great place to live. The pro's: clean, Patti (front office) goes above and beyond, safe, quiet, quirky (in a good way), flexible management, LOCATION, reasonable price, gym, onsite laundry, and interesting floor plans. Responsive management (you gotta get them in person!), 24 hour answering service, safe set up (parking lot #'s do not match your apartment number, mailboxe # don't match apt. #, buzzer does not display apartment number etc..). You are one mile from a great grocery store, 1.5 miles from tons of good food and bevies etc.
Cons: No dogs (boo-hoo), no green space, parking (people park in the 15 minute slots for days (!) - check into where your parking spot is and try to negotiate closer, basement/1st floor units near the water are prone to mold and flooding - just ask Patti about the history of flooding with the unit and she will be honest, no guest parking spots, sewage odor outside every 5th day (not inside and only by the parking lot).
I live in the main building. There is one "party" section behind me -- again, just ask Patti about the open units, there history and reputation. And, once I tell them to pipe down from my window - they pipe down.
As for the "mold" and break-ins mentioned by others... If you have severe allergies -don't move into an old mill on the water (duh) and, like any saavy renter, just ask about the flooding. I have NEVER had my car broken into (knock wood) - but I do lock it and well, I would just refuse to park in the furthest lot. So - just ask for what you want for pete's sake. And I have NEVER had any thing taken from my unit, not ever - and I just don't believe that any staff there would do such (hello - laptop, money - all left out and all left alone). So, if you have stuff missing - report it and then look at who you invite in for friends.
