I would not live here

I would tend to agree with this user about the location, views, etc. However, in terms of maintenance and upkeep, this is one of the most badly run and shoddiest places I have even lived in and I am desperately looking to get out.
The staff here are nice and try to do whatever they can, but I suspect that it is the ownership that is making them pinch pennies and causing them to be under-staffed. So what are some of the many things wrong with this place'
- The roof has leaked since day one, which was 2 1/2 years ago. They keep telling us that they are going to replace the roof but the reality is that they are only patching it and that's not working. What's worse is that there are times in the winter when we are told that we will have to wait until the summer before anything can be done about the roof! The leaks are not just little annoyances, they are big enough so as to render parts of the room unusable. One of the biggest is right above my dining table while another above the pillows on my bed!
- The AC didn't work for the longest time and here too they kept trying to patch it instead of replacing it, with the result that we had several days the first summer here where we forced to stay elsewhere because of the sweltering heat. They did end up replacing the part of the unit that was giving us trouble, but not before the cut a giant hole in our ceiling in one bathroom. Despite our constantly asking, and reassurances from them, it was 6 months before it was finally filled back in.
- To compound this, the pool, which was our lone salvation, needed to be renovated and the folks here at the mill, in their infinite wisdom, chose to do it over several months in the spring and summer. I mean could there possibly be any less thought given to the tenants in the prioritization of the work around here'
- The heat over here works only to a point and cannot withstand the coldest of our winters. When it drops to below zero and you need the heat the most is when it struggles to keep up, with the result that the temperature in the apartment is just over a frosty 60 degrees. They have two boilers but will have only one turned on at a time until you protest. The same is the case with the stairwell, to which we lose a lot of our heat - they won't turn it up unless it starts to compromise the health of the tenants. The staff were nice enough to bring us space heaters but these things are very power hungry and guess who pays for the electricity' The tenant.
- One of the reasons that they apartment does so badly in extreme heat or cold is the old leaky, drafty windows. We have brought this up with them as well, but rather than replace them, they will come and seal them which renders them unusable.
- We even had screens and blinds that were broken and it took them forever to get that fixed as well. We too thought intially that it wouldn't be too bad until we tried opening one of those screens on a hot summer day when the air conditioning wasn't quite cutting it... It was like the Discovery Channel in here for insects of all sorts!
- We have had splinters in our wooden floors that have caught every member of the family (yes, including my son who's now 3) and yet they drag their feet on buffing the floors.
I could go on and on about several smaller issues like doors jamming because they are not aligned, or not having enough parking spots because of which I have to park way far from my unit in the parking lot, but I think that you get the idea. Bottom line is that this was portrayed as luxury and it's far from it. I have lived in cheap off-campus housing at BU that was better taken care of than this place.

I have to agree with this posting.
The staff here is friendly and genuine, but timeliness is an issue. You wait and wait and then give up. There's often promises of doing this or that, but if a workorder gets filled, it's a bandage fix, not a solution.
Sometimes you never get a response. Yet when you walk by the management office the staff is reading the newspaper.
A number of tenants have complained about the air conditioning, from faulty function to loud noises. Maintenance comes by, does what any average person could do to fix it, and until your next complaint you're left with whatever the outcome is.
Most units have no screens on the windows, so opening the windows when the AC is not working is obviously not an option. And if there are screens, they are torn, worn, and don't fit the windows properly. Anyone with pets knows this is a hazard. I would never open any of the windows for fear my animals would only have to do so much as lean on it and then fall a few stories.
The units are quite nice, the location is very quiet, and the grounds are kept well.
The inside of the building is dirty, and electrical units such as the button for the single elevator is falling out of the wall. The cleanliness situation in the elevator and stairwells is apalling for a supposed luxury apt. building. The garage is filthy. The entire place needs to get out of the 80's and become a color other than pepto bismal pink.
The floors are in very bad condition. There are wide spaces between the planks, and basically, if you want your floor done, do it yourself.
The rent her is comparable to other rents in the area but not for the condition of the building and units.
I'm sure these units were beautiful when they were first constructed. But a lack of upkeep has caused them to lose much of their original luster, and for the same money, you can live someplace nicer than this.
