They Should Be Ashamed of Themselves!

As previous reviewers have detailed, this apartment complex is substandard in many regards -- everything from outdated (and dangerous) appliances to cheap flooring and carpeting has already been noted. We also had the same problems with mold, noise, a leaking and loud air conditioner (that only cooled one room), a loud and useless dishwasher (the dishes never got clean), a septic system that was constantly overflowing our toilet, etc., etc. But there's also the problems with parking: this place does ABSOLUTELY NOTHING to monitor parking! Several times during the two years we've lived here our parking lot has been full of cars without permits, forcing us to park down the hill in the visitor's lot! Each time this has happened, we've complained to management, and nothing has been done. Not only are there parking inconveniences (don't even get me started on the winter plowing issue, where they'll tow your car -- costs $100 to get it back -- if you don't move it in time; and they plow even when there's only half an inch of snow on the ground), but the lots are unsafe; there were two car thefts last month!!! You also need to pay $100 to use the clubhouse for any events -- which you're forced to do because the apts are so small.
If all this isn't enough, we've been told by other residents that they steal your security deposit from you when you move. Our neighbors were charged $175.00 because they had to clean their oven (an oven that smoked from the very first day, as all the ovens in the complex do) and wash the floor -- a cheap linoleum floor that was at least 10 years old and already stained! Another former resident said they were charged a couple of hundred dollars because of water stains on their walls -- stains that were made from a leak in their window that the complex never fixed. I guess this is common there, because some people haven't received any of their depost back. I've never heard of a security deposit being withheld because of cleaning! Every landlord we've had only charged for damage done by tenants (we've never had anything withheld!). We haven't moved yet -- still waiting for our house closing -- but we're already anxious about what trivial excuse they're going to use to keep our money.
The worst thing is that you'll feel like you're friends with the manager and other employees, and then they'll ignore your complaints and steal your money when you least expect it. It's just a terrible place!!!

I'm a little scared to run into these issues when I move (which I will do at the end of my lease). I did however manage to talk some sense into them regarding the internet but I think that is because I brought the LAW into it. The fact that we are unable to choose from a different Internet Service Provider or a different TV company is, as of march 2008, against the law according to a ban of exclusive contracts by the FCC. I have been complaining to them since i moved in 3 months ago about how bad the internet is. I then showed them this law that i researched about and found and they told me they are actively trying to get out of fusion and if they cant, I can get comcast on my own. Thank god because our internet absolutely blows! I think when I move, I am going to hire my own cleaners, keep the reciepts, and when they claim to need money for the cleaning, present them with the receipts and say "umm I had all of this professionally cleaned the day I moved out! NICE TRY! GIVE ME MY MONEY!" to catch them in a lie!

Funny but what ProfessorS has described sounds just like the apartment building at 267 Goffstown Back Road where NOTHING is clean when you move in, and which has lots of mold, a forever leaking leachfield, unusuable water that smells like the septic and is yellow-brown in color and several other cosmetic, safety and health hazards too much to list...................wonder if it is the samr owner/manager............hmmmmm
