Unrelated to Colonial Rental but nevertheless friends, one for the books.

"Rocky Brook" apartments and cabins, located at 850 Marlboro Road in Keene. I'm sure many of you have heard of it'

Prior to leaving Indianapolis in 2007, I rented an effeciency apartment here at Rocky Brook over the phone so as to have a place to come to when I moved back to NH. (I drove taxi in Keene for many years and was well aware of the "reputation" Rocky Brook had, however it was the only place I could find at the time.)

Anyway, when I moved in I realized the windows were missing fifty percent of their panes, no glass, spiders hung from the corners of the ceiling, the room reeked of smoke and mildew, the carpet was damp. As the days unfolded I discovered that many of the electrical outlets were not secure and hung from the walls, centrally wired smoke detectors were inoperative, the wiring was faulty. It took me two weeks to scrub down the walls, furniture, windows, etc. as they were literally "caked" in layers of nicotine and dirt. The apartment has no kitchen, merely a microwave. I had to wash my dishes in a small bathroom sink which, just last week, fell off the wall!

Having spent a winter here I found that "heat" was a rare commidity as was snow removal. Tenants had to shovel their own paths for the most part and "plowing" the parking area was a forbidden seven letter word. I should mention too that in the summer, the grass oftentimes grows to at least half a foot and in order to get it mowed, you have to unrelentlessly call and complain, and even then there was a 50/50 chance anything would be done about the situation. Many, many health and fire codes are still a viable "safety issue" and to top it off, the rent here just went up $13.00, insuring that tenants now pay a warping 178.00 a week. (Insane)

The owners, Andy and Malorie Symington are in the Reality bussiness simply for the "money," nothing else. They could care less about the legal repercussions they could face. They cater to the mal-ajusted, lower class type of people who could care less if they woke the following morning or not! Rocky Brook is a sad, sad ploy of investment for anyone who manitains a healthy sense of self-worth and integrity as it appears to be something right out of the "Twilight Zone!" Should have filmed the movie "Psycho," starring Janet Leigh and Anthony Perkins, here!

The negative energy hangs like a dense fog that is unnerving and tends to insidiously usurp any light that shines from within your soul, so value the choices you make and avoid this deprived inhabitance. The options may be limited but never impossible if you undauntingly stay focused. (An important lesson, indeed) Spare yourself, your family, the grief clearly apparent here at Rocky Brook and set your sites on "higher grounds," for truly, it is in your own best interest.

Someone needs to do something about the loser who able to rent an apartment it get away with the condition it in. Keene step in and stop treating the people that are getting an education like dirt!

I agree with the review above about Keene just not caring about the people that go there to go to college and help Keene economy without the college noone would go to Keene. People would go there only for Pumpkin fest lol. But seriously I been trying to do something about these slumlords for months and Keene just don't care. My apartment almost got burnt down two years about bc of stupid kids growing pot in the attic at our place and they didnt even get into trouble and the firefighters had to come to our house twice cause they thought there was no fire when it was in the attic they def need some smarter people running that town.
