Thank You.
My Review of the visit at Princeton Mills on Rte 12S in Keene, NH on 1/29/2008:
The apartments are quite nice.
I am interested in a one bedroom apartment and none were available to show, which has its down side as I could not visualize all of my stuff. In the two bedroom units though you can cut off one bedroom and move up the bathroom and that is your size, 550 Sq. Ft. Solid windows, clean rugs, and small but usable kitchen were there with a stove and a fridge.
It is an overall small place for the $895 per month, for rent with 4 to 6% rent increases each year.
There seems to be an honest community there (a $20.00 bill was tacked on the door as someone found it, I guess). There are washers and dryers there for $1.25 a wash and for the dry, so $2.50 a load if you don't overload the dryer. But you shouldn't do laundry after 9:00 PM as someone lives above it.
There is a decent storage area included, about 5' by 10' that you can lock in the basement which is cool, probably due to lacking space but I am not sure.
Covered parking is a definite plus, but I didn't see many guest parking spots, but snow could have been covering them as it is winter. Large dumpster is available for each building so always a good thing, but no recycling.
I was unable to find out a general / ball park age of my neighbors (I guess it is illegal to ask) but that bothers me somewhat. I have no idea if I am living with 50 year olds, 40 year olds, 30 year olds, NO idea, so that makes it a gamble.
Also it is not mentioned anywhere and it struck me as a surprise, that there are 9:00 PM to 9:00 AM quiet hours every day of the week. I am not a very loud person, but sometimes I have people over and a group of us can get loud, it seems uninviting to have people over, esp without knowing any ball park age range.
I have to say that overall it seemed like a great place to live with the heat and hot water included, but between the quiet hours and rent increases (I know all rent goes up, but still I'd go from $895 to $930 or so a month persay I moved there then resigned).
I am still deciding if it is a viable option as it is a "quiet community". I completely understand why, but even on the weekends for the big game you can't have people over it seems, as any noise after 9:00 PM could potentially get you in trouble.
I would say go for this place, if you are looking for a quiet, extremely clean, and well maintained area. You even have access to a pool in the warm weather at Princeton Arbors and can pay rent online with a Credit Card if you desire.
If I end up there I will let ya'll know but as it stands I am still deciding as the quiet hours thing reminds me of an old folks home.
I am moving in there in March, I can't wait!
Any input from current residents as far as age range, how strict the noise thing is, pluses, minuses, anything about this place I would greatly appreciate.
Thank You.
UPDATE:
I moved in and like it a lot thus far.
You can't pay rent with CC but with debit card online ... no biggie.
So all in all great place but keep in mind the 60 day notice or else it automatically renews for another 60 days ....
