In Steady Decline

My oh my, where to begin.
We moved into what looked a decent, classy apartment complex in March of '02. For a few years things were very nice indeed. OK, there was the odd bit of drag racing and the occasional audible fight, but still, nothing to get overly upset about.
Then, maybe in 2005 or 2006' things started changing. All of a sudden, dogs were allowed. Now, I like dogs, love 'em, but it signified a change in all kinds of aspects of living.
The dragracing youths were at it every night (and still are), there is massive police presence, I've heard someone got shot a few months ago, and apparently they are dealing drugs in this area.
There's a lot of noise bleeding through the walls all the time, but Heaven forfend I should play a record once a week, because if I do, then there's a massive thump on my wall.
Fire alarms keep going off in all of the buildings, and when it's not a cooking 'incident', it's probably a prank. The teenagers are getting older, bigger, and they like to hang around in groups, which is very intimidating, especially when they call after you and your significant other whilst you are taking a casual stroll.
Can't even tell you how much I've had it with the loud exhausts/mufflers on cars - aftermarket, no doubt - as well as the thumpa-thumpa car stereo noises we're treated to so generously at three in the morning.
As for landscaping, I almost forgot. During the nicer months of the year, the leafblowers and other assorted machinery are at it almost every day. One simply cannot work at home in the constant noise, nor is it very nice breathing in exhaust fumes from all the combustion engines that drive these machines.
I must say this for the staff, by which I mean the caretakers and the like: they are friendly, efficient, and very polite. They came with the building before the management switch.
This place used to be a nice home, my haven, and a place I could rest. Now it's becoming a borderline violent ghetto.

We have been living here for awhile now and I have to say this place is not like a ghetto at all. The fire alarms were going on quite a bit about a month ago but not anymore. I have never heard drag racing or "thumpa thumpa" from car stereo's at 3 in the morning, very rarely at all. As for the noise coming through the walls...well that comes with any complex with 400 units. You don't wanna hear the noise of other peple (not that its very loud) then move out to a place that no one lives next to you.
