Looks Can Be Deceiving

All I can say is that looks can be deceiving. My husband (boyfriend at the time) and I lived here for 1 year and were happy to leave. The grounds and units are beautiful and the staff, at least when I was there, was helpful. But a majority of the tenants there are less than desirable. They save a portion of the units for section 8 housing. Now I have nothing against people in a tough situation and I don't mean to place blame, but I found the complex to be unsafe. Here is why:
* Our car was broken into TWICE in the parking lot of our building. It's not like we kept money or anything of value in plain sight. CDs were stolen the first time and the second time they stole golf clubs that were in the trunk. Cars are broken into regularly and the police say that it is drug related.
* There was a man down the hall from us who would constantly beat his wife or girlfriend (not sure if they were married). The police were called to our building regularly.
* Someone was murdered in a building on the opposite side of our complex. Nowhere near us, but it just confirmed our feelings about the unsafe conditions. We were never more happy to leave.

I think that we lived in the same building. That place really stunk! It is pretty sad when we can not feel safe in a pplace that guarentee's security!
