incompetence at its best - or worse

I agree with the other reviews... but DO NOT LIVE IN BUILDING 125 if you can avoid it.
1. The fire alarm was broken for a good two weeks getting people out of their apartments at all hours of the day and night - and management sent out a letter saying it was burnt popcorn - finally they realized that it was the actual alarm that was busted but for a while it was the most annoying thing ever.
2. We moved in September and filled out our "needs to be fixed form" and in March they finally fixed it and the very nice and I mean that Maitenance guy, said that the office said that I was really b****ing about it - but come on - 6months is a long time to wait when they make you fill it out within 15days of moving in in order to protect your security deposit.
3. Our sink had a leak in it in February and our bathtub flooded up to your shins after five minutes in the shower (the shower thing was on my list) and it NO JOKE took them over a week to send the guy over - we had dishes we wanted to get done - and the office suggested I use a pot underneath the sink - and while he said someone would be back the next day it took another week for them to really fix it- there were four leaks!!! And also while there he fixed the garbage disposal that never worked and said that it was because whoever fixed it before we moved in didnt cut a piece the right length and obviously did not test it before he left.
4. Their renovations are all surface - there were holes in the walls which I put on the list because I am not paying for someone else busting up the walls - and the manager said that they were supposed to be painted over but obviously never were.
5. We put a shoe rack on our door in the bedroom and of course the molding broke away - the maintenance guy said that it was never nailed in when it was installed.
6. Rent is going up (thank God my husband got promoted and we are moving to the seacoast) they are raising it 30 dollars a month - which they are still offering new lessees the same rent that we were offered - but here is my thing - which is part of this issue - Heat and hot water are included in the rent but in my building and I have asked a lot of people you never or rarely have to turn on the heat - in my apartment I have NEVER once turned on the heat - NOT ONCE!!! I had the fan going all winter and had to open the window in the second bedroom in order to cool down the apartment. As far as hot water - most of the winter one of the three boilers was broken so the water - COLD... I called them a couple of times letting them know that the water was tepid at best - hardly conducive to showering and doing dishes. So not to be gross but I took a warm (at best) shower whenever we had hot water which was about every other day. So why the 30dollar increase and offering the same for new people'!'! I couldnt tell you...
7. Check your outlets - everyone knows that there are two outlets because both of them should be able to be used at one time - well not in our apartment one of the outlets in the kitchen shorts if you try and run the coffee maker and a small sandwich maker or any other small appliance at the same time - Irene - the office manager told me that I should just use the other outlets - thats really convient when its a galley kitchen and a small one at that.
8. The walls are paper thin - not side to side I have never heard a neighbor next door though I have met them during our MANY fire alarms. But you can hear the neighbors downstairs if they vaccuum (and some do it at quarter to midnight though the community says it is about "quiet enjoyment" but never say anything about it if you complain to them and going to the neighbors depending on who they are could really care less if you have a new born infant... and upstairs - the apartment will shake every time they walk across the floor and I am sure the same is true for every floor.
9. Snow removal. They tell you that snow removal will begin at a certain time and it never does so you remove your car for 3 more hours than necessary and they do not do overnight plowing. This winter I had to work at 7am and there were still the 8inches of snow on the ground so I was late to work.
the good things about this place: The two bedroom apartment is very spacious and you dont live in the dangerous part of manch with lots of child molesters - there is only one in this community and in the immediate area which has another apartment community and two condo communities in the VERY immediate vicinity... so overall its a safe place - for your kids
the pot holes which we will se if they ever fix before we move... not so safe for your car... Also - if your parking sticker isnt 100%on (Im talking 100% not 95 like ours was they will stick an obnoxious 81/2x11 sticker on your drivers side window that is really obnoxious to get off...
All I have to say is REALLY do your research before you move in here - who lives above below where you are in relation to the laundry room and what building you choose. Make sure you get on them about repairs because they will milk it as long as they can and as for the rest... we'll see when we move out I suppose.
