I moved into Red Oak Properties on Merrimack Street because I needed a new apartment quickly and I wanted to be settled in before my son was born.

With less than a month left in my pregnancy, I moved in.

BIG MISTAKE! The floors were horrendously slanted - the refridgerator was on blocks on one side because the kitchen bowed so much in the middle.

I always had to keep the wheels to my sons high chair locked so it didn't slid to the middle of the floor.

The neighbor below me must have been a drug dealer because there were always people outside screaming his name at all hours of the day and night.

The elevator ALWAYS smelled of urine.

They do not have a parking lot, but you over look this while signing your lease because they tell you that the city gives you a parking permit to park on the street.

What they don't tell you is that you have to park down by Canal Street and walk 3 blocks to the apartment which may not seem far, but think about it in the snow, rain, carrying groceries or a child.

When I moved out they tried to charge me $400 for a carpet replacement.

My 1 bedroom apartment was the size of a shoe box! There is no way carpeting would cost $400 and it didn't need to be replaced anyways! It was in better shape when I moved out than it was when I moved in! Things were constantly breaking but I was afraid to call maintenance because the first few times I called the disgusting maintenance guy would always hit on me and made me feel like I was being sexually harrassed! I stopped calling after that! There was also a huge bug problem - the ceiling fixtures were always filled with dead bugs.

The only thing positive about this apartment was that it was cheap(you get what you pay for) because it had heat, hot water, and electricity included in the rent, and they let you pay bi-weekly instead of monthly if that's easier for you.

I, Ron Dupont the owner of Red Oak, am responding to these reviews personally. Over 25 years we have been continually been improving our properties. Please visit our office. I promise you will be treated with kindness and you will be impressed with our well maintained and affordable apts.

We have never had any complaints about our maintenance personnel or any other Red Oak employees for inappropriate actions. Most of our maintenance team have worked for us for years. I do not beleive that this review is accurate.
