My husband and I moved to Washington Park this winter (2009)...and it has been a horrible experience. Like others, we did not actually see our apartment before moving in, they conveniently do not have them ready when you sign the paperwork, but if you have not renewed a lease because you are moving, you are stuck. The apartment wasn't even finished; our closet is missing rug and the 1/2 wall in the kitchen was never painted, its covered in dry wall mud, and was never smoothed over.

We were here literally hours, when we heard a domestic dispute above us, so, we called the cops because of the nature of the dispute. Cops came, nothing happens. This has continued for months now, we've told the property manager, and called the cops as least twice a month out of concern for the woman above us. The first full weekend we lived here, the coating on the tub completely peeled off...real nice. Our gas stove was outdated, and too, died a week after we moved in. They replaced it, with another "used" stove, after we complained we didn't feel safe with a faulty gas stove...so we bought a gas detector. Our second stove has had the electric starter replaced as well.

For a while, people didn't live below us...then this spring a family moved in and find it appropriate to smoke in the building...we too, live in a NON-SMOKING building. Like others, we have reported it to management, requesting a call back from the property manager. Two weeks went by, no return call...we call again, demanding to speak to her, get put through only to find out she NEVER received our messages. Our apt. smells like a dirty ashtray, and neither of us smoke. We selected a non-smoking building for a reason. Smoking problem as continued for FIVE months now, and they have not done a thing, even though our lease/handbook discuss the eviction process if you are found to be smoking (its 2 written warnings, then a 30 day notice)...Glad that's been taken care of.

Yes, we could talk to the neighbors, but we do not know they or how they will react...I've read the other post regarding retaliation...

I would NOT recommend moving here to anyone, there are nicer properties in Manchester, with far less hassle.
We want to move as soon as our lease is up!!! STAY AWAY

There are problems in the office. Whether it's not enough staff, or not I don't know. But, there are problems there.
