The Milford Slums, RUN AWAY AS FAST AS YOU CAN!

Years at this apartment: 2005 - 2008

We Moved in here in October of 2005 and started having problems within the first month. It has gotten Much Much Worse since May of 2007, when the New Property Manager took over. It snowed of the 22nd, today is the 24th and the parking lot still hasn't been plowed.

Here are the Problems from the Beginning:

1) In November of 2005 we noticed every time our Refrigerator would run the lights in both bed rooms would go out, the circuit breaker never tripped once. After having a contractor friend look at our breaker box it was discovered that a 15 Amp Breaker had been haphazardly installed where a 20 amp breaker should have been used on this kitchen circuit. After 3 Verbal and 2 Written Requests to fix this problem, we were told by the Building Maintenance Manager that the problem had been fixed. Funny, I am home all day Maintenance never once came to our apartment to fix any thing. We had to call the Milford Building Inspector to get the electrical problem fixed. (this building has burnt down TWICE in the past because of Electrical problems!)

2) In December of 2005 we noticed the paint on our doors and kitchen cabinets was peeling, we even found flakes of paint in our food (from the cabinets) After numerous complaints the Building Maintenance Manager handed me a gallon of Paint and told me "Paint it yourself!" Isn't it HIS job to make sure repairs are made'

3) In December of 2005, we noticed ICE build up on the inside of our windows, After repeated and Numerous complaints, this still has not been fixed to this day. The windows are frozen shut, I would hate to have to try to get out one of these windows in an emergency.

4) In January of 2006 our kitchen garbage disposal stopped working, again after numerous complaints...We were told "It's Fixed" only to have it stop working less than a week later. (we don't put anything down into the disposal at all) Because it doesn't work, the kitchen sink backs up repeatedly, we have to keep a plunger next to the sink at all times.

5) In May of 2007, we had a new upstairs Neighbor move in, This Neighbor has done nothing but Harass us since they moved in, in spite of repeated noise complaints, and Harassment complaints, all that has happened is both the Property Manager and Maintenance Manager have joined in the harassment.

6) In June of 2007 a male resident picked up a 2 year old girl at the play ground and attempted to carry her off. This Male resident had been sitting at the playground all afternoon drinking beer, and exposing himself to all the kids, trying to lure them in with beer. The Maintenance Manager, the Office Staff, and The Property Manager were all aware this predator was there, and what he was doing, but instead of doing something, and evicting this predator, the turned away. (Most of the kids are afraid to go to the playground now because they have to walk by his apartment, and his often seen out on his deck taking pictures of the kids. This Predator was arrested, by the local police, and released on P.R. Bail in less than a half Hour! He was only charged with disordly conduct, at the request of the Management.

7) In July of 2007 the Maintenance Manager's sons were out side shooting at the other kids with B.B. Guns,
When a few of us complained, The Maintenance Manager grabbed the B.B. Gun away from his kid and Shot his own kid with it (Nice Parenting skills) Then handed the B.B. Gun back to his kid and sent him back out side.

8) The Parking lots are NEVER plowed, many people have slipped and fallen, on person slid into a light pole last winter, a Couple of Residents are suing for damages. (even then...NOTHING gets done.

9) There is BLACK MOLD EVERYWHERE in ALL of the Buildings at Woodland Heights and at Laurel Hill, they try to make the Tenant's responsible for the Mold they PAINTED over to hide. This Mold Grows on the Concrete...and only comes through the wall after all the space between the concrete and the wall is filled up with the mold. the only way to get rid of it is to gut the building and clean the foundation. several Tenants are sick with unusual illnesses that can only be explained by this black mold.
As a Former Property Manager for a Complex like Woodland Heights, all I can Say is what is going on here is Illegal, and both State and Federal Authorities need to throughly investigate Mayo-Group, and take severe action against the Property Manager and Maintenance Manager at Woodland Heights and Laurel Hill Apartments (Both are run by the same Managers!) Not Even a Federal TORT Suit seems to wake these individuals up. It's a very sad thing. If you are thinking about renting at either Woodland Heights or Laurel Hill...DON'T....RUN AWAY...FAR AWAY

P.S. The "Good Reviews" that are on this site were written by a couple of Employees of the Mayo-Group.
