Not nearly as bad as they'll have you believe

I've lived here for about four months. I almost didn't move here because of all the negative reviews on this site, then I remembered people aren't usually moved to write reviews for apartments without a vendetta.
My biggest complaints here are about fellow residents and how much noise travels. I had two noise complaints called in on me before anyone ever said hi to me, and they were not with particularly good reason. (If your neighbors have kids, I'm sorry, but there's only so much a parent can do to quiet them when they are upset.) If you choose to rent here, just take a deep breath and hope that if you put up with the noise others make, they'll be gracious enough to put up with yours.
Another problem that will pertain to you if you are handicapped or have handicapped visitors is that the residents are too selfish and lazy to care where they park and they do not get towed out of handicapped spots. There's a *lot* of parking, but God forbid you have to walk an extra 20 feet to your door when you could just illegally park.
The apartment was very, very clean when I moved in. I noticed the water was slightly rusty only once (other reviewers make it sound like you'll be taking orange showers daily). I alone take a half-hour shower every day (sorry, ecologists) and I've not once run out of hot water, nor have my children. It is, however, a little annoying getting the water temperature just right and keeping it there. The apartment's temperature fluctuates a little too much for my liking as well. Sometimes you will have to throw a sweater on, sometimes you will have to crack a window open. Oh well.
The staff has been nothing but extremely helpful and polite. I don't have any complaint whatsoever there so far.
The laundry room is close to my apartment. (I would not like to live on the third floor and try to do laundry here.) The laundry room is clean. Like all laundry centers, it's too expensive. For those who complain that people mess with your clothes, there are only three washers, three dryers. Be considerate and get off your butt and take care of your stuff when it's done. I would not hesitate to move someone's stuff if it's been sitting there. I care about my time more than yours.
I was expecting much worse, I'm actually pretty comfortable here. If you are not expecting luxurious living, you probably will be, too.
