Pricey, but not bad

I've lived here for 5 years, and have found that the location of your unit makes a world of difference. I live on the river side, and have never had a problem with noise. The walls are very thin, but I know people who have complained, and management has sound-proofed their wall. The parking lot side is quite noisy, as several other reviewers have noted. There are gvt. subsidesed housing units, but as far as I understand, and have seen, these are only to one side, and I've never had a problem with anyone here. As for safety, the building location is fairly safe, and I've never had a problem. Management can be snobbish, and rent is high (I don't see how they continue to raise rent every year in this economy), and the heat is not easy to control. But the building is nice, underground parking is available (and at $15/mo is much cheaper than anything you'd ever see in boston) if you're worried about vehicle safety, and some of the management is also rather helpful. Maintenence will fix reported problems within 2 days. You could do worse, you could go cheaper, but the convenience to downtown is great and the appartments are clean and big.
