Big rooms, pungent smells

This would be a great place to stay if management would pay more attention to resident complaints. I've been living here for almost a year now, but honestly, I'm counting the days till my lease ends so I can get the hell out of here.
Sure, the rooms are big enough, and the rent is pretty much ok, but other than that, it is an everyday challenge not to lose your mind in a place like this.
Each night, especially around 7pm, the whole building REEKS of fish curry. Management has bolted all windows is the corridors for the winter, so the smell can't get out and you're left sitting in your living room and trying to deal with it as it creeps in from under the front door. Trust me, air fresheners can't kill THIS odor. I've tried everything!!!
The worst part comes deep at night, after midnight, when the same odor starts to spread through the apartment THROUGH THE KITCHEN AND BATHROOM SINKS!! I've never in my life come across a thing like this! Whatever your neighbors are cooking and dumping in the garbage disposal, you'll be sure to get a "taste" of it.
Fish guts, deep-fried oil, any leftovers, they all get dumped in the kitchen sinks and when they go down the pipes, every apartment in the building reeks.
I've contacted management about this at least 5-8 times, and they haven't done anything to fix the problem.
So, come March, I'll be moving my stuff to another apartment. Or dumping half of my furniture since it's caught some of the pungent odors I've been fighting to get rid of all winter.
All in all, I'd say it's a 1 out of 5 stars. 1 for the size of the rooms. 0 for everything else.

What happens when management is too PC to keep unconscientious, disrespectful people in line, just because they happen to be Indian. It's not hard to immediately tell whether someone respects others, either, regardless of cultural background. Management either doesn't care, or they are too shortsighted to realize that the problem with some Indian s, which has been going on there for years, is running off everyone else (and I imagine some other Indian s as well), and Pheasant Run now has a reputation as being a noisy, stinky hole, with bad management.

It is called fair housing law. They can not rent to someone because of their race or tell someone what they can cook. I have the same neighbors and deal with the smell but you just put weather striping and a air draft at your front door and it is taken care of. I'm sure they can smell my american cooking and think the same. You can not blame mangement and the smell does not go into your furniture. Your just upset and trying to come up with lies to make yourself feel better. Sounds like PR will be better off when you move. Everytime I call for Mangement they are there and solve my problems. I just don't call and complain about something that is not a maintance problem.

I don;t have a problem living with people from other countries. My roommate of 3 years was from Nepal and we go along fabulously. We cooked in the same kitchen and never had a problem of any kind.
What bothers me here is the fact that I'm left to deal with stench from my neighbors 3 doors down the hall 24/7!
Pheasant Run buildings are soo poorly constructed that smells spread through gaping holes in the walls, pipes and carpeting. I don't expect management to reconstruct the building on my behalf, but I need to see they are capable of writing a simple memo to "educate" people on being considerate to their neighbors.
For example, one of the maintenance guys told me he has to go a couple of times a week to apartments just to scrape decomposing rice stuck in the garbage disposals. These people dump their dinner leftovers directly in the sink: rice, potato skins, deep fried oil, meat and everything, clogging up the pipes.
And I've seen families with small children cooking with their apartment doors wide open. At least have the decency to cook with one window open!
If that's not disrespectful to your neighbors, I don't know what is!!
