We have lived here for awhile now and have enjoyed it very much. Although we do not like Nashua altogether, and DW Highway is NOT the place I would pick to live, I do overall greatly love my apartment. All of our family is out-of-state, and whenever they come for a visit there is ample room. We even have a grand piano in the living room! I have not seen many apartments where that is possible. I do not know what people have been talking about with rent hikes and late fees. As for renewing a lease, ours went up 5% which is a very reasonable amount, and the office has explained to us that if your rent is in the slot by the open of business on the second of the month then it is not considered late. Many times my husband has dropped off the rent at 10 pm on the night of the first. Make sure you date your check and your envelope! I have found that yes, people do tend to keep to themselves, but I'm guilty of that as well. Although people aren't bringing cookies to your door when you move in they are very polite, smile and say good-evening and are just overall pretty friendly. As to the smell of curry. We had a friend of ours move into an apt. that smelled like curry. Usually the smell is in the wood of the cabinets. She washed them with Murphy's Oil Soap and used an air purifier and the smell is gone. You would never know, and it was, I will admit pretty strong when she moved in, but it wasn't something to move out about or complain about. I cook Hungarian/German and I am sure our apartment will smell like us when we leave. You know how every house has a smell, the one that takes you back to your childhood; well an apartment will have the same thing.
Our manager has been very helpful in answering questions etc. I had about an apartment-based business. I have found that if you live by the rules and don't try to rock the boat (as many adults seem to like to do, I thought that was a Jr. High thing), it is very easy to live here and enjoy it. Come on, there is not much to enjoy in this world, so much we can legitimately CAN complain about, why complain about an apartment' Be thankful.
