I looked for places online that would have everything - gym, pool, nice place. The apt's were wonderful - roomy, nice kitchen, marble in the bathroom.

However, they only had 2 open apts. Well, that's the story they told me at the time, anyway. One was on the ground floor. In addition to people looking in or breaking in, that place is CRAWLING with kids. They play in the street and scream and run around and play in the bushes. I didn't want to be in the middle of that.

The only other open apt was on the 2nd floor. It seemed perfect. Later I learned it was directly above the laundry room. I knew this because my bedroom never went below 80 degrees, even with the AC on full blast in the summer or the window wide open in the winter. It was also unbelievably loud at times. I don't know what did it, but every now and then there was a noise like somebody threw a block of metal into a giant grinder.

Anyway, I complained and wanted to move. If I moved out, they told me, I'd have to pay off the apt until someone else moved in.

"How long would that be, on average'" I asked.

"Well, since there are over 50 open apts, it could take a long time."

Yup, first 2, then 50. I tried moving to another apt at the complex, but there were all sorts of catches to that, too. So I stuck it out for a year.

I was paying $840 for a one bedroom. At the end of the year they raised it to about $1000, but because I was such a good guest they would give me ONE PERCENT OFF!!!!! A WHOLE $10!!!!!

Instead, I moved into a 2 bedroom apt for $640 at forest ridge. I hear Royal crest is in the mid thousands now.

Features of Royal Crest:

They have 2 pools. Both are three feet deep. Do not jump into them, or you will break a leg. To wet your whole body, it's best to soak one half at a time as there really is no more room. I tried to do laps but kept scraping my hand on the bottom and never went back.

They have a gym. There are a handful of free weights and a few rowing and biking machines. It is quite tiny and usually very crowded with smelly people. I wont miss it. Oh, and the hot chick pictured in their paperwork using the gym was nowhere to be found. Bastards.
