Nice place, but expensive

I have been living here since Nov '04 and moving out by end of May '07.
The place is sprawling, so depending on which apartment unit you are in, YMMV. In my case, my apartment is a nice 2 bd/1.5 bath with a scenic view of the pond and 2 minutes from the gym and the pool and a short walk to the nearby mall. Maintenance staff is good - you call in with a problem and they usually fix it during the day when you are away at work.
Parking is OK (no assigned spots, just park wherever) for me since I used to get home early, but for someone who comes home late from work, you might have to hunt around a bit for a spot. The place is pretty quiet, outside of the occasional couple of times we had a bunch of kids stay next door who indulged in some drunken revelry.
Now, for the cons - Expensive, with a capital E. Probably the most expensive of all the Nashua apartments. And a steady increase in your rental rates, every year. When my roommate asked them about this increase, they said they have to show a profit on their account books on every apartment, every year, so they have no choice but to increase the rent. They bump up the rent by about $150 every year and then give you a "discount" of $50 if you renew the lease 3 months in advance to the time your lease ends. Right now, I am moving out partly because my new rent is going to be $1249 (much more than what I'd want to spend) and partly because I am considering a move down south. Another con, as far as I am concerned is that they recently took away the Racquetball court adjacent to the gym and converted into into a functional area which they could rent out and make more money. The Racquetball court was a good way to keep fit during winter, but they decided to do away with it anyway saying only few residents used it (They didn't ask me!). They have 3 tennis courts, of which 2 of them are cracked right in the middle and unusable. Come summer and the pool is filled with more people than there is water in it. But, I don't do much of swimming anyway, so it didn't bother me much. The gym is nice, but last time an equipment broke, it took them more than a month to fix it. No lifeguard in the pool and no instructor in the gym, btw, but that's expected I guess.
Overall, I recommend this place for who can afford it, if you can overlook the minor annoyances.

I agree, if you can afford the apartment it seems worth it, I have lived in others in the area and the quality is much less than that of RC. It matters what is more important to you, good construction, cleanliness especially the upgraded apartments w/updated kitchens, or saving money and living in a dump. I am curious though, the raise that you speak of....Is that a $150 dollars a year, or per month???
