Awful Neighbors

Lets start with the positives. The apartments are spacious, and its difficult to find other complexes that have laundry rooms. The appliances are newer. The list ends there. The neighbors are the worst of it. At first I was naieve as to why the police patrol the complex, truely, a dozen times a day. The apartments are leased to many welfare and section 8 recipients; this isnt a "luxury" complex for young professionals. The emergency response calls are bi-weekly, mostly with police and fire department activity in the neighborhood. There is no shortage of shrieking harpy housewives milling around the buildings smoking up a cloud. There are a ton of loudened cars racing through the complex streets, loud bass systems cranked in vehicles, honking at all hours for tennants to come out of buildings, and car alarms left to sound endlessly. I have had leaks which are simply painted over. I have drywall damage from a leak that is molding, and its been 3 months of promises broken; its beyond more paint. The rent is steadily raised, and its not keeping the "trash" out of the neighborhood, all income restrictions are ignored (again, lots of section 8). I watched a kid urinate on the play equipment. A woman fell through the rusted stairs in one building and was badly injured. A elderly man fell asleep smoking in another building with 30 some bottles of oxygen in his apartment. The siding melted in the fire. I would compare this place to multi-story trailer park. I feel bad for the lovely neighborhood its nestled against.

I take offense to your section 8 stereo-type. Some of us really need that because we aren't able to work. Not because we don't want to, but because medically, we cannot. If it weren't for section 8 housing, the majority of us would be out on the streets!

not for nothing but most(not all) people who are on section 8 are trash who have no intentions of ever getting off of it. Ive lived near many apartment buildings who accept section 8 and ive seen nothing but trailer trash/ghetto people that make the area undesireable. It is a stero type, however, for the most part it is true.
