This solution will cost you $30 - $40 and save you your entire security deposit as well as hold managemnt accountable for their behaviors. Read on:
Go to Radio Shack and buy a cheap digital recorder. I use the Sony ICD B10. Then buy this cheap phone adapter that allows you to connect to your phone line with a connector to the digital recorders MIC input. Now when you speak to the property management you can record all of your conversations with them. It may not be eligible in court but it is CERTAINLY permissible to use when trying to recover your security deposit. I have two dozen calls recorded and when my lease terminates in several months if they try to screw me out of my deposit I will play each and every phone call to them as well as file a complaint with Montgomery Police Department. If several tenants do this we won't have to worry about this he-said she-said BS anymore and get this company to hold itself accountable.
