Thinking of renting a 2 bedroom

My fiancee and I are thinking of renting a 2 bedroom this coming May at Audubon. We went to go view the apt yesterday & the model they showed us looked very nice. I quite sure there's a downside to all te positive things we were told & I wanted to hear from current or past residents & see what are the pros & cons.
The only thing I wasn't to happy about was the carpet. We have small dogs and it's a pain if they have a mistake, but after specking to the lady she said we could make the place like it was ours. So I was thinking about having hardwood floors put downstairs and just forfeit our security when it's time to move. But who knows I'm just happy we've found a place that is willing to take pets we were having such a hard time

Better think twice about moving into the Audubon Apartments in Belleville. I moved in on Nove 28, 2007. All winter we've had heating problems (no heat). Currently, I've been without heat for 2 weeks. It's 52 degrees in my apartment right now. The management is not very responsive in resolving the problem, only blaming the city for it. They don't offer any compensation. Also, they have yet to install all the screens on my windows. So I expect that this summer I'll be sweating like a pig. So there you have it, freeze in the winter and die of heat stroke through the summer. I certainly don't recommend this apartment to anyone! |

I moved in to Audubon in September 2006 and let me tell you....RUN! Look somewhere else!! Let's start with the sewage backing up in my bathroom sink (took them over a month to respond and come fix it). Or maybe that they tried to evict me 2 weeks ago and claim I never paid rent in OCTOBER although nobody called me or sent any notices stating they thought they didn't receive it (which they DID cash the check). Or the cheap carpeting that the nails stick through and stab your feet when you walk around. Maybe it the supposedly 'refinished' bathrooms, which all they do it paint over the DIRTY SCUMMY tile and then you have a problem with paint chipping off on you or your kids. I could mention the issue with heat too, there are NO controls in the unit so you either roast to death or freeze. Be EXTREMELY aware that there have been a number of break-ins in the complex. So that means in spring/summer/fall, it isn't safe enough to leave windows open. Trust me, look elsewhere! I am looking for somewhere else, even if it means breaking my lease at this point.

I moved here to Audubon Place in Nov 06 and have been trying to find another place that accepts pets and its virtually impossible. No heat in the winter and the management does not care. They advertise that they provide the heat and the lease states that also. However, it does not work half they time, and they refuse to cut it on until the temp is below a certain degree for a certain number of days....But when you go to the rental office its quite warm and toasty. Plus there is no parking. you can forget finding a place after 10pm...its all gone. And management knows the place sucks...thats why they are offering a $99.00 move in special. My advise to anyone considering moving into Audubon is that you pay for what you get. And you basically get screwd living here...Kepp searching for decent housing because this place is the cess pool of Belleville....

All three I'm assuming you still live here though? LOL C'mon this is the last of the summer and did not wittness the hang outs nor the break inns except for one and he told me he left his windows open for an entire weekend. The new property manager moved on site and wow is the kid commited to respond as best as he knows how... I never went to the office to pay rent because of the ignorant idiots wo worked there before, and now I get greeted ith a smile and GREAT REPONSE TIME! There is still allot to do overall, but a great place for the money and location. So please allow your self to make a decision on where to move all three rebuldles are from idiots that still live here and wont move!
