My initial reason for moving into Hyde Park Apartments was because it was close to my family and they allowed large breed dogs. This is where the good ends. Since moving in in November of '07 I have had several problems.

The first is all of the unruly kids in the area. Several times the kids have decided to throw balls at my window breaking off part of my air conditioning unit(I'm on the 3rd floor). I've asked them to stop, threatened to call the cops, and complained to management. I work in a hospital and work crazy hours...though I know a huge apartment complex can be noisy, I do expect that the other tenants to control their children and not allow them to throw things at a window. I have seen the kids playing in the dumpsters. They ride their bikes throughout the parking lot intentionally behind moving vehicles. There are two HUGE courtyards for them to play in, yet they have to play in the street. I don't have children of my own and I don't want to deal with those that don't belong to me!!

Second and this is probably the biggest complaint I have is the PARKING. Again I will mention I work crazy hours and don't get home until after midnight. I can NEVER find a parking spot. Yet I can find several vehicles in the spots that have PA tags. I brought this up to management, as I don't see how people living in NJ with PA tags is legal (can we say insurance fraud'). Management told me that it is not their problem and that I should take it up with the police. However, when I signed my lease, they asked for the make and model of my vehicle and the tag number!! How is this not THEIR problem' I have a REAL JOB and it doesn't involve doing their dirty work because they are too damn lazy or worthless to check into themselves!!

Next there will be the countless times that the doors to the buildings are left open. We have a key to the building and a key to our individual apartment. I'm so sick of people sticking things in the doors to prop them open or breaking the handles just so they don't have to take their key with them. They are called security doors for a reason!!

Other incidents have been walking up to my building to see a guy standing outside the door smoking a joint. The outside light to my building as been out for at least the past month. They do construction without telling anybody. I've come home several times to have no water, or find that my water is brown. No warning ahead of time. They tell you when you move in that if they need to get into your apartment for any reason there will be plenty of notice. Plenty of notice to them is 24 hours.
I've also had problems with my "older than dirt" A/C unit icing up. I've had my heat not work during the winter. Not wanting to wait for maintenance to "get around to it" I had a friend in the HVAC (union) business to fix the heat.

The last thing I will mention is the rent. Currently I am paying $720 a month ($695 for the apartment $25 for a pet fee). I was locked into this before they raised the rent. If I choose to stay in my apartment after my lease is up, my rent will be increased to at least $790. As I don't find this to be too bad of a price, I think it is a terrible price to pay for a place that does not offer washer and dryers in each individual apartment, no dishwashers, older than dirt AC units, no assigned parking spaces, unruly children, Section 8 scumbags as neighbors, and has incompentent morons running the place. I'm sure there are countless other issues, having read the other reviews, I completely agree with those that have said DO NOT MOVE TO HYDE PARK!!

Needless to say when my lease is up...I'M OUT OF THERE!!
