Ari Mandel of Oxford Realty Group (based in Highland Park, NJ) should be embarassed at being in charge of Fountainview Village Apts.
The leasing office management and Oxford Realty Group have let FV turn into a slum.
Their outdated ads list amenities they no longer have and awards they are won years ago and are certainly no longer qualified to win. The list of problems in this complex is endless.
However some of the key problems include crime, appearance and parking. The further back into the complex you go, the less safe it becomes. Drugs are openly offered to people walking the sidewalks around the buildings. Lighting is poor and often non-existent in some areas. While lighting in some places stays on constantly (like the still unfinished leasing/laundry facility), places in need of constant light have either none or horrible timed lights. Numerous pizza delivery drivers have been robbed and some companies won't even deliver anymore because of fear. Abandoned or unused cars are all over, especially by the L-K Buildings. Some sit there with busted out windows, graffiti and tow-away stickers. However the cars remain there, taking up precious spaces for people who can afford to insure and register their cars AND pay rent.
Some tenants or locals even have found the back lots are a good place to park and have sexual activities.
Although the leases clearly state no abandoned cars, trailers or work trucks are allowed, all this continues. Someone has even had the nerve to take the handicapped staked signs out of the ground and unscrew signage in order to park their cars in those spaces.
The leases also clearly state the rules about tenant trash and fines. However trash and debris litter the halls and stairwells as well as the grounds. Maintanence and ground crews spend most of their time listening to music, working on their cars and riding 4-wheelers. However, I can't blame them. There are definitely not enough staff to upkeep this huge complex and you can just drive through to see it.
Calls to the leasing office usually end up with you getting the run-around until you get angry and have to act like a nut to get things done. They will walk all over you if you don't have a backbone. Everything you ask for they treat like it's a burden and absurd that you want it. And then, when they do make an effort to fix something, it's always half-a$$ed.
You might think calling Oxford Realty, the people above even the front office, you might get somewhere. But no, all you get is an obnoxious secretary chewing her lunch in your ear telling you that Mr. Mandel is away and she isn't sure when he is returning - big suprise. It's ashame that good people with little money and nowhere else to go have to settle for a place like this. Trashy people come in all colors and Fountainview Village Apts has examples of all of them. So my advice is, if you can live in filth, crime and such come to FV. If not, save up your money or get a second job and stay away. Maybe if Bill Moffett, the property manager, sends a video to MtV they will feel sorry for FV and start a show called "Pimp My Slum" and FV can get a makeover.
