My Experience at Autumn Ridge

I have been a resident for 6 months. Let me begin by saying that I am a very cynical individual and My husband & I moved in to Fountainview Apartments last December with much hesitation because of the negative reputation of the complex. We undertook the 1 year lease and decided that if it was actually as terrible as everyone said, we would move.
I leased my apartment from the previous management, and in the first month I identified several issues that needed to be cleared up. By the time I brought my problems to their attention, the management had changed. The entire office and maintenance staff was replaced. Each of my complaints was addressed immediately with the exception of a bad refrigerator seal and the drafty windows and sliding glass door. After replacing the refrigerator seal didn't work, it was replaced with one that even though not brand new, is in much better condition than the original. The replacement of ALL windows and sliding doors in the complex has already begun, so my draft issue will be taken care of before the winter sets in.
I do not have centipedes, spiders, roaches or any visible mold and I have never seen a bag of trash set outside of any door in my building. The maintenance staff does a very good job of keeping the grounds cleaned-up. The only problem may be that they do not work on Sunday, and with so many children playing outside during the summer, the complex looks in need of some TLC by Monday morning when they return. By the time I get home from work on Monday afternoon, everything is generally cleaned up again. My neighbors have also been respectful with their stereo volume level.
The new management has done more than pave the parking lot, which I appreciate. The "painted steps" are not just painted. They have all been inspected, and many flights of steps will be totally replaced, hence the new color. From what I can tell the old steps are blue, and the new steps are being painted green. I guess it's possible that if after inspection, new steps are not required, a paint job on an old flight of steps should be good enough. Every archway has been fitted with new awning. The machines in the gym are all functional. The laundry facilitity has never been full any time I have tried to use it (plenty of washers and dryers). The pool, which was not maintained by the previous management, is once again open to residents. The new office staff has always been courteous, respectful and efficient.
Autumn Ridge is an apartment complex with hundreds of units! It is certain that everyone who resides here will not conform to your particular moral code or standard of living. My experience, to this point, has been a positive one.
Come by, speak to the management and keep an open mind. Yes there are still issues to be addressed, but the current management has done an exemplary job in addressing issues that have control over!

I just have to add my part about the pool (btw: I agree with the 2 above responses to the review). Fountainview DID maintain their pool and it was open on memorial day weekend last year. Wonderful how autumn ridge doesn't get it up and running until after the 2 worst heat waves expected this summer pass. I pay for those amenities when I lease in a community and was HUGELY disappointed that on the few 103* days we had I couldn't cool off in a pool (I am 7 months pregnant as well so I NEEDED IT)! not to mention all the other things I mentioned in my personal review about a month ago

I can't beleive that all you have to complain about is centipeids and spiders. Get a life. Bugs are everywhere. Would you rather have roaches or maybe that is just what you are use to. And God forbid they open the pool when it wasn't safe like the last Management Co, when some one would have goten hurt, it would have been their fault and as for the new windows and doors, I am not in N building and I have new windows and sliding glass doors to my unit. People are so impatient. Damn, they jus got here, but you are probably one of those parents who let your kids throw trash, hangout in the breezeways and hang milk carts on the brandnew awnings they just put on.

lordjerz, sorry for your bad experiences, but for the record I am a tennant, and I do not work for the apartment complex. You made quite a few really negative comments made in your response to my original post. You are entitled to your opinion, which I respect, but I have clearly not had the same experience.
I was asked how many original issues I had when I moved in in December. My dishwasher leaked under the sink, the weatherstip on the front door needed to be replaced, 1 toilet "ran" constantly, I needed a shelf in one of the bedroom closets, one of the bedroom doors did not close, both recently glazed bathtubs were flaking, and then there were the issues I mentioned previously (refrigerator, windows & doors).
Regarding the new windows, and doors, I am not mistakenly referring to the building that burned down. The windows and patio doors are being replaced.
I live in a building that will have the stairs replaced, and my only requirement is that they are "safe".
The sarcasm about the centipedes seems a bit extreme.
There are issues with children who are not supervised by their parents. But they are children. In my opinion, the fault lies mainly with the inattentive parents, and the children (to a lesser degree). I would suggest lodging your complaints with the complex management regarding specific incidents, I have.
I will count my blessings that I have "clean" and courteous neighbors.
Thanks for the replies

Rowmel1970: Get a life? I only complained about bugs? First, try actually reading instead of just skimming through. Second...who said ANYTHING about N building? B building is the one that got all of it's windows replaced. As for my kid "hanging out, throwing trash, etc, etc" that would be a negative, considering he's all of 2 years old. In reference to me being "used to roaches" your logic here makes no sense. If I were "used to roaches" don't you think I'd be thankful to have spiders and centipedes instead? At least try to make a little bit of sense.
Listen, the new management has made minor cosmetic changes (they just painted the front doors the other day, yay!) all in an attempt to raise rent. This complex has a ton of issues, and I'm not even blaming the new management for 95% of it. My point is, they're not doing anything other than painting some things hunter green. Most of the responsibility does fall on the tenants...another good reason to keep away from Autumn Ridge.
The bugs really are the least of our many problems, as illustrated by my review here:

I am @ the K building and I'm waiting for the mgmt team to finish with the landscaping on the plots next to the steps that faces the bottom apts.. Also It would be nice if they replace the wooden fences that are falling apart.. I would like to suggest that they put up speed bumps and make the parking lot have directional signs to stop the traffic from speeding through the property.. I would like to suggest that they re-fence the back of the property to stop un-wanted foot traffic.. I guess let's give the the mgmt and maintainance team a chance to get the projects that they have planned.. Also i think they should send out newsletter to keep the residents updated of the happenings that is taking place.. I hope for nothing but positive changes :) !!!! I hope by mgmt renting to people that care and by ousting the ones that don't give a hoot.. Things will look up!! After All!! WE ALL HAVE TO LIVE HERE>> LET"S MAKE IT A GREAT COMMUNITY!!!!
