I have lived in my apartment for a little more than 3 years. The only reason I still live here is because of the price. I really hate having to drive my trash to the dumpster because both are so far from my apartment. No one mentions that when you move in and it's really not something you think to ask about either. When the new managment took over, I was really hopeful that we would see some much needed changes. While there are some things that have improved such as the appearance of the buildings and the staff that walks around to collect trash and...Thats all I can think of. When they first started to have security it was great because you would see them walk around everywhere greeting people and it made me feel a little safer. It seemed you saw less people loitering around the stairwells.Now I couldn't tell you the last time I've seen a security person. The situation that has upset me most here was when in the winter on a saturday, I came home to my apartment and the doorknob would not work, the key went in but wouldn't unlock. I called the office to have someone come over and fix it so I could get in my apt and they told me that maintance will only come out on the weekends for an emergency and my situation didn't qualify. They said I needed to call a locksmith and pay for the repairs out of my pocket and would not be reinbursed. Why should I have to pay for the repair of thier doorknob' That really got me discouraged by this new "great" management. There are kids all over that seem to have no supervision and certainly no manners. They sit in stairwells where none of them even live. I think it's sad because the apartments themselves are not bad, it's just the majority ofpeople that live here.I have had some pretty nice neighbors wher others just stay to themselves which is ok too. I go out of my way to try and not be coming home late at night because I hear stories that people are being mugged only two buildings from mine, it's really scary. Just yesterday a man was shot and killed in his apartment. I really pray that by the time my lease is up, I can afford to move somewhere else or some major changes happen around here.

does anyone know if this was random or was it provoked by something? I know its not safe here either way, but it would make me feel a hell of a lot better if it wasn't a random act... i live 2 buildings away from the g building.

dbabygirl82, I read in an article that the police do not think it was random but they haven't caught anyone yet so who really knows. I've also heard that there have been muggings at the H building. A man was hit in the head w/ a gun and robbed about 3 weeks ago. Everyone just needs to be careful and alert. We should all keep an eye out for our neighbors too.

Someone should post a list of all the crimes that have happened here, and where they have happened - we need to put the heat on the management to do something or risk losing tenants ($) so they will put the heat on the bad tenants and on police in order to get some REAL PROGRESS
