My boyfriend and I moved into this place in August 2002. Since then, we've had nothing but problems. Let me start off by saying, we are a quiet, professional couple. We both work and don't have any kids. We decided to live here because there was a large population of elderly people who are generally quiet and keep to themselves. We also heard that the place was very safe.
Unfortunately, our apartment is in a building that no old people WANT to live in. More like trailer trash. Our neighbors (the man my boyfriend calls "Garfunkel") don't seem to have jobs. They are home ALL the time (even weekends) which leaves NO good parking. As of recent, Garfunkel brought a busted old truck back here, parked it in a prime parking space, and there it sits. The people below us REALLY enjoy football season, as we hear them SCREAMING everytime the Eagles do something or other.
The parking stinks. And what's worse than the parking' THE MAINTENANCE!! You have to call them at least 4 times and YELL at the poor person on the other end of the phone who pages the maintenance guy. They MIGHT call you back. With all the rain we had this past spring (and the unkempt gutters with trees growing out of them), rain came sheeting through our closed kitchen window (would it kill them to put storm windows up'') and flooded out our kitchen. The maintenance man called back just as we were finishing sopping up the literally gallons of water on our floor. Remember the very cold winter we had' I sure do! I was left without heat for over 24 hours in December because the maintenance man wouldn't come light a pilot light on the heater!!!
The kids here are horrible. We watched them break someones window with something or other and run away. They write profanity on the sidewalk and brick buildings with sidewalk chalk. They're a general nuisance, but then again, so are their parents.
Another reviewer stated that the bedrooms were a nice size for the money, and I agree. However, you get what you pay for when it comes to service and your neighbors. These are just a few reasons I would NEVER return to the Fairways or even recommend it to my worst enemy.
