Lakeview is not the best place I've lived so far. I've lived in 2 other complexes in the area in the past 5 years and Lakeview while not being the worst, is not the best either. My complaints are this:

-The fitness center is barely even a place to attempt working out. Just about everything in it is broken, including the inclined bench, and good luck trying to find a pair of dumbbells because most are missing their mates.

-I have a crack going from my ceiling to the floor in the living room and mysterious "wet" spots appearing on my wall. I have called maintenance twice, the first time they filled in the crack and sprayed something that got rid of the spots but never even painted over the patched crack. By the time they came out again the wall was cracking yet AGAIN and the spots are returning. They never seem to actually fix a problem right the first time.

-The fixtures are cheap and shoddy. I can't tell you how many time stupid things like my towel rack or toilet paper rack have fallen off the wall.

-If you are looking to move in here then be grateful they pay for the heat because there is absolutely no insulation in the windows. The windows rattle every time a breeze blows through. Also check the windows to make sure they are in well because I've actually had 2 panes FALL out.

-My neighbors are awful. There are two young couples who are constantly fighting and screaming bloody murder which you is blatantly obvious through the very thin walls. On top of that the one downstairs is addicted to painkillers and sells his pills to various junkies who come in and out of the main entrance because despite the fact that we have a locked main door, the lock never actually locks. This is not the properties fault, but it is the type of person this place attracts.

-Since I've moved into Lakeview my antenna was stolen off of my car, and a book of cd's was stolen from inside it. These where two separate occasions. Once again, it was not the properties fault that my antenna was stolen or that I forgot to lock my car once, but it does show the character of the people who live there.

-Parking isn't usually a problem unless you come home late.
-Staff is generally friendly.
-Affordable.
-Access to 42 is good.
-Pet friendly....which reminds me...if you have a problem with cats, you might not find the many feral and outside cats living on the property to be charming.

All in all Lakeview isn't terrible, but it's not "home" either. If you are young, don't mind kids, animals, noisy neighbors, and things breaking occasionally, it's a decent place to hang your hat until you can afford something better.

I live in the townhouses and I must agree with what you are saying. However, you a just a little luckier than me when it comes to your gas bill and the windows. I have to pay my gas bill because I live in a townhouse. The gas bills are outrageous (in january and february they were $400!!!). I also have called maintenence about the windows and the cracks that go through them. the front and back doors have spaces so wide and I can actually stick my fingers through the crack on the back door. Needless to say, my downstairs is always freezing and heat runs constantly, and we feel nice ice old breezes while sitting on our couch! My husband went out and spent over $50 on plastic and weather stripping for all the windows! (Maintenence did come and "weather strip" however they did the wrong part of the door and we don't have a week and a half to wait for them to come back, so we had to go buy it ourselves!) Oh yeah, same here with the toilet paper holders and towel racks. They have actually fallen in the middle of the night and scared us to death! Our upstairs bathroom is actually lopsided...if you stick anything that rolls (like toilet paper roll) on the counter or floor it'll roll right off!!!!

Dear Lord!!!! The things you're making sound tolerable are completely unacceptable! You are paying them to live there! They should be dealing with the issues you're mentioning. It is COMPLETELY management's fault that your upstair neighbor sells drugs and that your car's been burlarized twice. It is management's job to kick out deadbeats and to make sure the place is safe! Sounds like they have you eating right out of the palm of their hands! And wait til you move out! They're going to charge you to repair things that were broken when you moved in! And do you remember agreeing to pay to have that filthy, stained, cat piss-scented carpet cleaned upon move-out? Well, if you don't, they're going to take it out of your security deposit. (And personally, I doubt they'll actually have used that money to have the carpet cleaned because the carpets in that dump all looked and smelled FILTHY.)
