Ive been living here for almost 8 years and am very happy. Ive read the reviews from other people and I must say some of these things are a little bratty.
1. If you dont tell maintenace you have a problem how can they fix it'. Ive called them and they are alwasy accomodating.
2. Heating too hot! I dont know about anyone else but I hear what people pay for heat, and I have paid high prices in the past myself only to watch it go out of uninsulated windows., Im greatful and yes if it does get to hot I open a window and smile because Im warm.
3. Noise from other apartments..hello these are apartments. If it gets to loud thats because your neighbors are inconciderate. Talk to them.
4. People complained about not getting $ back on thier security because things were not cleaned. Perhaps you should clean them before you move. Any place I have ever lived that was the rule, and a good one, it only reflects on you if your a slob so get over it.
5. A/C come on everywhere you go you need a/c even if you live in your own home your probably going to want it!
6. Brown Water - yes it is a pain but it comes from the town you have to let it run and it clears up old iron pipes rust and thats what the town has.
7. Refrigerator problems first NJ laws do not require providing refrigerators. I moved into a place thinking that they did only to find out no you need to get your own. So I did. But again, the maintenance people will fix the problem if you tell them.
8. Parking- well thats like any area built prior to 2 and 3 car families its not always easy but you can always rent a garage or space.
Overall the property is very pretty parklike setting and being more a country kind of person I see grass and trees Im happy.
As for the neighborhood itself I think people who live here are very friendly more like an old fasioned "50's" neighborhood.
Definately worth it.

You must live in Forest Hills Apartments in a parallel universe. I had the misfortune of living there for over 14 years while growing up. We were in a duplex on Davey St. I think that the negative reviews that the people have left are spot on. The management of this complex borders on criminal. The grounds are worse than some public housing projects and the area has gotten less and less safe to live. When we moved there in 1979 it was an okay place to live but things really took a turn for the worse around 1983 and it doesn't sound like it has gotten better. Unfortunately for the renters Forest Hills management have no incentive to improve the place because in Northern NJ housing is so expensive. Available land is limited (Bloomfield is 99% developed) and with most people needing to live somewhere with easy access to a NYC commute they don't have much of a choice if funds are limited. Oh and regarding the brown water...I have lived in other areas of Bloomfield and have never had problems with brown water. It is not the towns fault it is due to the crumbling mess that this ancient property has turned into. They should just raise the whole place and build new condos on that land. That property is priceless.
