I've been living here for almost two years, and I have to say overall I like it. There are surely two sides to the coin.
On the plus side:
- The location is great. As a former MSU student I liked being less than ten minutes from school (because I love to sleep late :) ), but as a graduate working into NYC, I find there is a great variety of commuting options at my disposal to help me get into work.
- The area is beautiful and quiet. I've read about some crazy things that have gone on around here, and I must say that its news to me. I live in the middle of the complex, so the craziness must be happening close to the front. My area is clean and quiet and my neighbors are great.
- The managment is really very nice and super accomodating. I've had to ask them for some help over the course of the time I've been here, and they've always been willing to do whatever they can to help out. There's been a couple of times when they've been grouchy, but people are people...i've been grouchy too.
- When it snows there are maintenance people to help you dig out. I'm not sure how frequent that is, but last year I had so much trouble getting out of my spot and this gang of guys came up and dug me out in no time. It was awesome.
- It's cheap! I looked for months before I settled here, and for the money I'm paying ( $880 for a one bedroom) in comparison to the expectations in the area, I'll take a certain amount of negative.
On the negative side:
- Maintenance isn't great. My doorbell has been busted for months and they haven't fixed it.
- The water turns brown every now and then...which is just nasty.
- Parking is ok before 7 o'clock...afterwards it gets rough. After 10 good luck.
- Snow removal is horrendous
- You can't regulate your own heat, and its very hot and very dry.
- No dishwashers.
